Knowing Edith's son, Tom, for so long, I have heard many stories about Edith. She lived with gusto and purpose and helped so many people. Inspiring.

I am honored to know Tom, whose generosity of spirit, creativity, originality, and sense of humor are stellar. His mom raised him right.

This tribute gives me a beautiful view into her many faces and the people she raised and befriended. I grew up in San Diego and know that my hometown was enriched by having Edith there.

Edith Hosler was a very dear friend to my mom Betty Hosler. Edith's husband Fred was my dad's brother. My mom [Betty] & dad [Bob] had incredible years as friends and family with wonderful memories with Edith [Louise as I knew her in my earlier years]. My mom and dad have since passed but Edith was a wonderful person and friend to my mom & dad. Edith brought love and happiness wherever she went and we will all miss her very much.

Edith Louise Hosler died on Friday June 11, 2021 at the Swedish Hospital in Denver, CO of natural causes. She was 97. Edith was born on December 21, 1923 in Flint MI. She graduated from Hurley School of Nursing to become a Registered Nurse (RN) at the close of WWII in 1945. She worked as an RN until 1973 at which time she began a new career teaching nursing. After a 58 year career, she finally retired in 2003. She relocated to San Diego, CA in 1970 and then to Denver, CO in 2005. She truly loved teaching and received several awards for her work. She loved her family dearly and was an inspiration to all. She particularly loved walking with her family on the beach near her home in Carlsbad, CA and watching the sun sink into the ocean at sunset. She would say “watch for the green flash just as the sea swallows the sun”. Edith was predeceased by her parents, Edith and Elwood, her husband Frederick to whom she was married for 29 years, her brother Lewis, her sister Joyce, and her son David. She is survived by her sons, John and Thomas, and her sister Alice, as well as, her grandchildren, Eric, Ryan and Hanz, and her great grandchildren, Ashton, Liam, Katrina, and Chase. Goodbye Mom, we will always love you.
