Our Edith

October 13, 2013

Edith was our Nana.  We loved her very very much.  She was our "Disneyland" and being with her was our happiest place on Earth.  There was never a moment when she didn't make us feel like we were the most important thing in the world to her.  She had a beautiful and giving heart. She loved her family more than anything.  She loved doing things for us...even if it was just cooking us a meal.  She played Halo with Alex into the wee hours of the night.  She was terrible at it but, she enjoyed just being with him. She painted Allison's nails and loved finding clothes for her and her brother Alex.  Edith's baby was Amanda Dawn Traughber. Edith lived to see Amanda graduate high school. She was so proud of her "Poo Roo."  Jason was her middle son. I remember when he let her drive his truck and off she went.  Jason's wife, Cheri, was the one Edith asked for expert advice. James was her oldest son, and Alex, Allison, and Andrew's father. The last time James saw his father Wofford told him that he was the man of the house now.  James took care of Edith, and she took care of him, for many years. Edith was my mother-in-law and friend.  She understood my heartaches, and pains. She helped me even when she shouldn't.  I thank God every day for that help. It allowed me to rise up out of my post partum depression and become a good mother. In her last days, she was my best friend. No one had ever understood how crippling my depression could be but, Edith did. Being understood was the most comforting feeling I could know. Edith had an older sister named Janice and an older brother named William. Her beloved husband Wofford left the world many years before she did. She missed him dearly. Edith had many aches and pains both physically and emotionally. On November 4, 2012 Edith left this world to be with Wofford and her savior Jesus Christ. She hurts no more.
