Edmond Gordon Midgett, of Gibbstown, NJ, age 85, passed away April 7, 2022.
Born in Buxton, NC, the son of the late Edmond D. and Linda C. Midgett.

Ed served in the United States Coast Guard from 1954 - 1963.  He was a career tugboat Captain until he retired in 1999.

Ed married the love of his life, Mary Ann (Sue) Shellem in 1957 and they had three children.

Ed was predeceased by his parents and his wife.  Ed is survived by his two sons, Chris and Dale (Jen) Midgett, his daughter, Beth Selfridge, his grandsons, Timothy and Kevin Selfridge, Cameron Midgett, and Alexander, Nicholas and Zachery Konopka and his companion, Marion

Ed enjoyed reading, playing cards, hanging out by the river at Riverwinds, David Muir, and acquiring various things at bargain prices and giving advice to all.  Ed would make new friends everywhere he went.

Lovingly remembered by his family and friends, Ed’s smile and encouraging advice will be sorely missed.

I was contacted by Beth Midgett, Ed’s daughter in 2021. During our conversation, she revealed that I was matched with her son as an aunt. Ed was my biological father. Chris, Beth and Dale are my half siblings. My father and I enjoyed daily conversations after Beth contacted me. Chris also contacted me daily. The man that raised me served in the Coast Guard with my biological father Ed. I have many messages from my Father Ed. I am his daughter. If any family members would like to know me, please reach out. Thank You!
