Edna Earl Riggs Tippett, 83, a longtime resident of Butner passed away Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Universal Healthcare in Oxford.
A native of Durham County, the daughter of the late Ervin Ulysses and Lillian Ferrell Riggs. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Butner, a graduate of Freewill Baptist College in Nashville, Tennessee and was a Superintendent of a Children’s Home in Turberville, South Carolina. She was also a graduate of Watts School of Nursing and was employed at Murdoch Center in Butner for over thirty years.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at First Baptist Church in Butner by Dr. Mack Thompson and Rev. Lenny Rogers. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.
Surviving are her son, David H. Corn (Cathy) of Kittrell, two sisters, Julie Parrott, Jean Walker, both of Durham, a brother, Rudy Riggs of Timberlake. Three granddaughters, Katie C. Green (Linwood) of Stem, Whitney Corn (Aaron) of Creedmoor, Alye C. Briggs (Jason) of Kittrell, Two great granddaughters, Jaycee Briggs, Reece Briggs and one great grandson, Wyatt Green. She was preceded in death by a son, Derek Tippett.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 8, 2013 from 12:30 – 2:00 PM prior to the service in the fellowship Hall of First Baptist Church in Butner.
