Dad - missing you on your day.
I always wanted to be like the man my Pop was
I tried, but failed to be half the man he was
We shared some of the best times and he put up with all of my stupid mistakes
No matter the situation, my Pop always saw the good in life and people, never a cross word from his mouth.
Most famous words from him were " Edward, don't let that mouth over load your brain"
I always enjoyed doing things with him and for him
My Mom would get on to us for standing out in the garage enjoying our talks and hydraulic sandwhiches (AKA Beer)
He was a man of strong faith, which he shared with us on a daily basis
It would take a lot for him to anger, majority of the time it was my fault as the statement above states
Now that he is at rest, I find myself at peace knowing he isn't in any pain , because he rests with our lord
For a little humor, which I think he would have a little smile about, I find myself doing the George Thourgood song "I drink alone"
I try not too show emotion that he is gone
Pop I truly miss you and the things you would say, such as "Edward , your being a clod!
Love you POP
You will never be forgotten, your legacy lives on FOEVER
My uncle Ed helped "raise" me from age 17 into adulthood. His guidance,,,advice and example was more than an uncle-nephew relationship. He was always faithful to the Catholic church in all aspects of life and this example helped me to convert and take the necessary steps for baptism into the Catholic faith while in the Air Force at age 20.
As an adult I could always count on his wisdom in all matters pertaining to my life and it continued up to the last days of his life here on earth.
I'm sure he watches over and sends his love to those he loves and that love is felt in many different ways...until we are re-united again.
He didn't express these words in this fashion but his meaning was crystial clear,
"It is far, far better to be important in the eyes of God
, than in the eyes of man."
