Born on April 20, 1939, in Sinajana, Guam, Edward Cruz was a son, brother, husband, father, retired clinical psychologist, and devoted Catholic.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Enrique, Magadalena, and Teresa Cruz; his brother, Alfred (Nina) Cruz; his sister, Rita (Raymond) Mayo; and his son, Edward Cruz II.  He is survived by his siblings, Rick (Edith), Antonita (Frank), Mary (Herman), Felix (Mary), Benny (Mary Ann), and Roland Cruz; his wife, Ann Quan Cruz; his daughters, Jenny Cruz (Norris Ford) and Anna Schmoldt (Steven); and his grandchildren, Felix Taylor, Zoë Ford, Aleah Swearingen, Mya Behling, Sidney Schmoldt, and Kiana Schmoldt..

He graduated from Father Duenas High School in Tai, Guam.  He received his Bachelor of Arts degree at St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park, CA, his Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling at Columbia University in New York City, NY, and pursued doctoral work at Notre Dame University.  He received his Canon Law degree in Rome, Italy.  His first calling was as an ordained priest in Dededo, Guam.  He eventually became a clinical psychologist, first practicing in Queens, NY, then Topeka, Kansas, and finally retiring after 26 years in Waukesha, WI.  

He and Ann were married for 46 years.  They raised Anna (Emiko), Jenny, and Edward II (Teddy) in Wisconsin.  Ann and Ed moved to Round Rock, TX for 4 years, and then finally settled down in Ohio to be with Jenny and Felix.  Edward passed into peace on Tuesday, August 23rd, 2022.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 6245 Wilmington Pike in Dayton, Ohio 45459 on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. Visitation begins at 9:00 a.m. The service will be immediately followed by Interment at David's Cemetery.
