Dear Mom,

I can’t believe it’s been 10 years…

My heart still feels so heavy

And my eyes still fill up with tears.

I still miss spending your birthdays with you;

Seeing your beautiful eyes get wide

As I present to you my “surprise”,

The coconut-pineapple cake

That I knew you loved for me to bake.

Although I know the cake’s not very nutritious,

I miss watching you take a bite,

Smile, and then say “it’s delicious!”

I miss going to your favorite restaurant to eat dinner with you,

As we celebrate your birthday with the rest of the Marshall crew.

But most of all, Mom, what I really miss is this…

Being able to FEEL your heart beating,

And to HEAR you breathing,

And to tell you I love you,

While my arms are hugging you

As I give you a big kiss!
