I have known Mrs. Efunmi Omowunmi Olubanwo for over 9 years. She was my boss for 9 years in the Section on Legal Practice of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA-SLP). We used to call her ‘Boss Ma’, not only in the workplace, but wherever we met.
My past work colleagues will agree with me that she was full of life, energetic, always willing to work, compassionate about work, kind. I felt comfortable, equal, and had a very good relationship with her. We were always at each others tails like Cat and Mouse, we fought, argued and always come back to reason together. She was ready to go the extra mile when called, especially in times of emergency in our workplace. She was a mobile person and loved to get things done, even if it took her hours to do it.
Efunmi would go the extra mile to assist you, or call one of her many friends or siblings to do the same if she can’t, just to make sure that you are satisfied. She believed in fairness. Strife was not part of her life.
After her retirement from the SLP years ago, it was difficult letting her go. I always called her when I'm stuck and she would help. She continued to remain active and willing to help out as usual. But those days are gone, gone but not forgotten. It’s really hard to accept sudden death like hers, and we will never get accustomed to it.
Gone before us too soon, Efunmi (EfyB), aunty mi. Certainly, the precious memories of you will remain in my heart. This is your time, EfyB to finally rest on; In everything, we all can say, Jesus gives and takes, blessed be his holy name.
So many things around my circle will forever remind me of you.
THE OTTUN FAMILY extends condolences to the OLUBANWO Family.
