Born Eleanor Minnie Heidrich in Detroit, Michigan,  nearly 100 years ago, she lived a full life.
    Eleanor was raised during the Great Depression, making her resourceful and resilient. Wanting to become a brain surgeon, she applied to John’s Hopkins School of Medicine, only to be rejected, in their words, “because you are a woman.”  That directly led to her lifelong commitment to women’s rights, justice, and equity. She sought to guarantee that her children and grandchildren did well in school and went to college.
    While working at Lyon, Inc. in Detroit, she met the man who would become her husband.   Her boss, Leonard  A. Quart,  was so taken by this smart, spirited beauty that they were married eight months later.   From their union of nineteen years, George, Ellen, and Larry were born.  Eleanor loved her children, her grandchildren, her family, and friends. Some of her happiest moments were spent “up north” at the family farm in Glennie.  She loved fishing, riding horses, and walking in the woods. An accomplished musician, Eleanor played the piano, violin, accordion, and harmonica, in addition to being a terrific whistler!  With her husband, they shared a love of dogs, horses, fishing, and dancing.
     Eleanor was preceded in death by her two sisters, brother and her loving husband,  Leonard.  She is survived by her children George(Susan), Ellen, and Larry(Colette), six grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Known for her warm smile, generous heart, and fun spirit, she will be missed.
    Eleanor will be laid to rest in the Glennie Cemetery.  A celebration of her life will be held July 18, 2021, at the Glennie Golf Club, from 1-4.. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in her name to the Mikado Volunteer Fire Department, PO Box 55, Mikado MI 48745,  or the charity of your choice.
