This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Sen (Dr) Elijah Emezie, 82, born on February 11, 1931 and passed away on April 1, 2013. He was laid to rest in his home compound after a funeral service at St. Paul's Church, Nkwerre on May 10 2013. There will be a service in his memory at the same venue on 20 April, 2014. We will remember him forever.

Daa, exactly 11years today when you played a big April Fool joke on us all. A lot has happened since then. Lots of loved ones have joined you to watch over us, most recently your Sam and Akanjo Nwata, crossed over with little notice.

But in the midst of all the sad news, we still have a lot to celebrate. Your beloved Nwunye gi has been a solid pillar for all the family, still very fit though now with more pains in her shoulders. Your children and grandchildren, cousins, nephews, nieces are all making great progress in their jobs, careers and studies, all are also hale and hearty. We are all quietly making you proud.

Sleep on daddy, Anaejere! Continue to rest peacefully in the Lord. Continue to watch over us.

Exactly on an Easter Monday, eleven years ago you passed on to glory. Even though that you had been going down, the information was still a very big shock on that April fool’s day in 2013 and even today, it all seems like a dream that you are indeed gone. God has indeed been our comfort and strength. Dede Emeka, Akanjo nwata and The Sam have joined you and their burials will be taking place this week and next. Continue to rest peacefully in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour my darling Daddy, Etete Ebubeogu, Eberechukwu 1 of Orlu, our showman, Anaejere aku.

My Show man. Anaejere akum. My most distinquished Senator. My dearest daddy. Another year has flown by without you.

A lot has happened in that year. I have moved to Canada. I wonder what you would have thought about it. I am still trying to settle in and find my feet. But I love it here and I know it is good for me.

Also we have lost Dede Emeka, your able pharmacist at St. Luke's Hospital. And then wait for this, we have also lost The Sam. Yes The Sam. Your beloved driver and friend, who cared for you like a son in your dying days. We, your children, are making every effort to give him a befitting burial, which I know you would want.

Continue to rest in the bosom of your Lord.

I miss you every second, of every day Da.

I love you always

Happy birthday Daddy. No day goes by that I am not reminded about the extraordinary person that you were. The legacy of love and unity in the Ebubeogu family, the affordable health care you provided for all that you came across both young and old. I know you are in a better place, safe from the daily trauma we now face in Nigeria.
As you welcome Sam into paradise, we join him in the prayers for a peaceful repose.
Continue to rest in peace Daddy.

Every feast day we had while I was at Loyola to commemorate the Saints that represented our different houses, there was a quote always plastered around the school chapel that read, “It not about the extraordinary things you do, but the ordinary things you do in extraordinary ways”. And every time I think back to that quote, I remember you most fondly.

This year, we not only celebrate you posthumously, but we mourn the loss of a dear family friend, Uncle Sam, who was recently called to the bosom of the Lord.

I miss you everyday and I take any chance I can to tell my friends about you. I miss you very dearly and look forward to the day we would be reunited again as one family in the presence of the Lord .

Happy 93rd posthumous birthday Ana ejere m. We remember you today as always.

But this year with a heavy heart as it pleased the Lord to call your Sam driver home on the 31st of January 2024.

A huge shock to us all. And as we fondly remember you, we will also cherish the memories of him, the love he showed you especially during your illness and his faithful service to us all. I pray that the good Lord will continue to grant both of you eternal rest.

It is well. Your Ada Etete.

Daddy, 10 years gone by already. I have taken comfort, in the past ten years, in the assurance that you have been our guiding and guardian angel. We have stayed together, and with the support of each other, withstood many challenges. Our children, your grandchildren, continue to grow in wisdom and knowledge. Your cousins, nephews and nieces, that you loved so much, have also been blessed with children doing well in their chosen fields and numerous grandchildren. I am sure you are proud of all of us.
Unfortunately I cannot say that you would be proud of the Nigeria in which we find ourselves today. If anyone had told me that we would not be able to celebrate your 10th year memorial with a lot of fanfare, I would not have believed it. But here we are, all waiting for the security situation in Imo State to improve before we can even think of planning any celebrations.
Your vigil over us continues!
Rest in peace Anaejeraku, Rest in peace Showman!

Anaejereaku nwoke oma, Eberechukwu 1 of Orlu, My ever distinguished senator, My adorable daddy. Another year has flown by without you.

I have some exciting news for you, my Showman. We have finally set up an Ebubeogu family endowment fund to help the less fortunate members of the family. I know this is something that you would have been immensely proud of.

In your lifetime you were a one man endowment fund for the Ebubeogu family, in-laws, your patients, and the needy of this world whenever you were made aware of their plight. Because you believed that when our race is done here on earth, what we would be remembered by is not how much we left in our bank account, but by how much we used our God given wealth to touch other peoples lives.

I want you to know that you ran a great race daddy and you touched countless lives. Everyday I wake up bursting with pride that I am your son.

Daddy, I will also like to share with you that the name I take the greatest pride in now is being called “Ome ka nnaya” as I am now fondly called since your passing.

Happy birthday my dearest daddy. You would have been 91 years today. We remember you today as always. Continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord.
It is well.

8 years gone since you went to be with the Lord and it still seems like yesterday. You are missed so much. Ada Etete turned 50 yestaerday. Can you believe that, Ada Itemitem., Nwaano and God also blessed her with a new home. The world is still going through the Covid-19 pandemic. Mummy has gotten her first dose of the vaccine. I know that as a Physician and one who believed in vaccines in helping to eradicate diseases, you would be pleased with that. I am still waiting my turn here in Canada. Allthe others have gotten one dose or the complete two doses. Continue to rest peacefully in the bosom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

My friend, Elijah (Chris Azodoh)

April 17, 2013

Elijah, the long night is over.  The dawn is here.  Receive the mead reserved for you by the merciful, loving and just Father!  I wept buckets as I watched your transformation by the salvic pains.  Now, I weep no more.  I rather rejoice in the Lord, as in the fullness of time, He recalled his servant home.

Yes Edna, rejoice in the Lord that Elijah’s immortal body is released from the perishable body and you are summoned by our Maker to lay down your precious burden, which you had dutifully and with extreme love, borne.  You stoutly rejected the provision of external daily help for your husband, to give you some relief.  You preferred to surrender to him your familiar and loving presence.  Your self amalgamation was most touching and I could not but applaud.  Your life with Elijah was inimitable – a show-piece of love, humility, sweet regard and delight in the service of mankind.

Elijah was of that quintessential rare breed of Nkwerre sons, well-crafted in feature, always correct in manners and never remiss in courtesies, ideal husband and father.  All the years I had known him from the early fifties, first, through his elder brother Jerry, then together in University College, Ibadan, and then the civil service, in private life and in business, I had never seen him put the wrong foot forward.  He was a gentleman to the core.  Elijah, can there be another you?

Adieu Elijah. In the Father’s bosom, remember your dear wife, your loving children, relations and friends.  I am proud and privileged to be numbered among your friends.  Adieu.  We shall all meet where there is no more parting.

Chris Azodoh (KSM, K.O.C, J.P)

About Dr. Emezie

April 3, 2013

What can I say about Dr. Emezie? He was a very kind man. I met him during my high school years. I remember during the Easter break, usually the western and northern girls didn’t go home for the holidays because it was a short one. So most times, you get invited to homes of some of your eastern friends. I was privileged to visit the Emezies at their home two out of my five years at FGGC, Owerri. When I arrived at their home, I was welcomed and became part of the family. If you have had the honor of visiting the Emezies you will enjoy warmth and a great regard for family. I remember I was introduced to Dr Emezie’s brothers and their families who happened to live in the same ‘compound’.

I remember the third time I was at the Emezies. I was very sick in school and the Emezies were visiting and asked of me. They were told that I was in the clinic sick, they got permission from the school and took me home and took care of me.  (Just so you know another wonderful thing about Dr. and Mrs. Emezie,  since I visited their home, every time they visited, whether it was on Foundation day or any other day, they always brought ‘provisions’ for me ).

I can never forget Dr. and Mrs. Emezie. They were a huge part of my secondary school days. Their kindness to every child they came across was amazing.
My sincerest condolences to the family. There can never be another like him. God’s speed and may you soul rest in perfect peace, sir.

 Much agape love,

 Doyin Alugbin
