ForeverMissed

This memorial website was created in memory of Elisabeth Misner. Those of us who knew her will remember this amazing woman forever.

Elisabeth was battling a severe reaction to gadolinium toxicity for several months as the result of an MRI with contrast.  Unfortunately, that condition was masking the more serious underlying condition of cancer (something that she successfully beat before).  By the time her medical doctors discovered that it might also be cancer, it had spread to her liver and bones and she did not have time to pursue  the type of treatment that she had success with before.  She remained with us for only eight days after that time.  She passed away in her sleep on October 29th at 3:03 am of pulmonary thromboembolism as a result of her condition.

Many people celebrated her life through an online memorial on November 24th.  You can view her memorial by clicking here.

If you would like, you may also leave a tribute message below.

I stepped away from the business world and many other things during the pandemic like so many people. I have been out of touch. Today after thinking about Beth (who I didn't know very well and only for a few years, but I think of remarkably often) I was looking and looking for her on LinkedIn to send a message saying hello and thanking her for her kindness. I was incredibly heartbroken to find her obituary.
Beth provided guidance and comfort to me when my stepfather was battling cancer in 2019. I knew her professionally, but she did not hesitate to open up her wealth of knowledge, experience, and kindness to me when the topic came up- in a bank office of all places! To find out that someone who had been so diligent, studied and scrutinizing in her own prior treatment was taken from the world and her family by that wretched disease is infuriating. So, I just need to go watch her TedX, "Saved by Rage" and listen to her lovely voice and strong words and find a way to bring more light and joy into the world like she did. She has left a beautiful legacy and I am so grateful to Dr. Misner for ensuring that her spirit is kept alive.

Do not know her, but being a member of the BNI family - just wanted to leave behind a few lines of LOVE - for the Lady who must've lived an awesome life with Dr. Ivan Misner, and the entire family of BNI, the world over. What prompted me - I've no idea but death always plays it's part inside of me, having lost our father at my14 which left an indelible mark on my childhood. Lady. Misner - whoever you are, wherever you might have been born, to whoever you might've been born to, however, you must've lived this Gorgeous Life of yours, how many friends you must've made on this tiny planet, wherever you might've traveled, however, you might've loved your near & dear - NOW IS THE TIME FOR YOU TO REALLY TAKE TIME OUT FOR YOUR OWN SELF, NOT KIDDING. YOUR FAVORITE SPORT, READ YOUR BEST BOOKS, LISTEN TO YOUR FAVORITE MUSIC, RIDE YOUR BEST HORSE, GO TO YOUR MISSED-OUT PARTIES, GO FOR THOSE LONG SOLO DRIVES, LET YOUR HAIR LOOSE, WEAR ALL THOSE COSTUMES WHICH YOU MUST'VE SACRIFICED and the last - DO WRITE A LETTER TO DR. IVAN MISNER, asking him to do the same and tell him that you are doing fine. Wish, I'd known you.

About 25 years ago, Elisabeth did an album of Christian music and music about the family. She wrote all the songs and performed many of the musical instruments for the songs. I've taken the liberty to put up the entire album on YouTube for everyone to enjoy.

The songs; Family, Little One, Dorian's Song, and Born of My Heart, are all songs about our family.

Please enjoy (and share if you like them).

That’s amazing!”… ❤️

I am deeply saddened, I just found out about this great loss, and I can't believe it.
I did not know her personally, but I have been collaborating with the foundation for four years, even before I became a member of BNI, and the work she did in our region will not be forgotten in many years. My heartfelt condolences to the family and friends.

As part of Elisabeth's legacy...... she would be so proud to know that the Foundation has successfully launched in the UK and is already contributing to children's charities. As a 21 year BNI veteran, ED, and now BNI Foundation trustee, that met Elisabeth many times, I'm immensely proud to light a candle to such a special lady, Elisabeth your light will shine forever xx

Hello Ivan,

I am deeply sorry for the great loss, Today as I was surfing on FB after a while

I couldn't believe my eyes and still, I am astonished. I couldn't find an appropriate way to offer
my condolences. Finally decided to privately email you and tell you what is in my heart.

I believe God always send selected Angels to become our soulmate and provide the best
of the Universe as well as be our Guardians, and that only happens to the best and kindest
a person likes you.

Elizabeth for real was and is the selected Angel, the kindest, lovable happiest, and the best wife, friend, mother, and teacher.

She loved everyone unconditionally and her signature was and is her beautiful smile.

Ivan, please forgive me if I am late, I left the States last year during the pandemic and returned home to my family. And social media and the Internet are very weak and sometimes none.

Elizabeth will always be loved unconditionally and always is with all her loved ones.

Hello to Beth's family. I just found out about her passing. We met a number of years ago and not sure how our paths crossed. A loving sacred soul who extended so much of her kind goodness. She came to mind a few days ago and was called to seek her out as I realized she was not present on FB for a while. Well, this is how I just found out when I went on FB to look her up. I am so sad to hear of her passing...a remarkable soul to all who knew her. loving light to all of her family. JoAnne

As a member of BNI and as a husband I sincerely send my love and respect to Dr Misner. I am so grateful for the small chance I had to hear and learn from the work she did for so many people. I know i am just a small member in Southern Utah, but the past 8 years as a member I have learned to look at the world in a new way. Thank you to Dr. Misner and to his lovely wife for all they have shared with the world.

I only had the pleasure of meeting Beth Misner once along with Dr. Misner at a BNI Steiner Ranch event--an informal meet and greet and opportunity to donate books to the local Boys & Girls Club. I was excited and nervous, but I found Beth, as I had been told, to be so sweet and warm. She's "like the rest of us" someone said, but I found her to be so much more. Not everyone makes you feel like what you are saying right at that moment is so important. Not everyone can be so gracious that even when you feel a little out of your element, she made me feel right at home. Not everyone after only spending a few minutes in their presence makes you feel like you have a friend for life. I, being still somewhat "starstruck," she insisted I call her Beth and he, Ivan, because again, with Beth, one could be at ease knowing we really are all in this together. I am loving getting to know so much more about her depth and warmth and her work. Like so many around the world, I am wishing I had had another visit with her.

Elisabeth and Ivan would share many meals at our beloved TLC meetings, where she took my daughter Alicia under her wing like a loving mother. She would listen, coach, counsel and laugh with the grace that I came to realize was her natural gift. What I didn't realize was how beautiful her voice was...the last song we sang together in Montreal was Hallelujah...it is a blessing I'll forever cherish. I was truly sick when I heard she passed. She is an angel who earned her wings and flies with God now. We love you Ivan.

Thank you for creating the possibility of sharing Elizabeth’s life and love of humanity with so many around the world. My own goal is to live to 106 and have standing room only at my memorial/funeral.
Although online, Elizabeth’s memorial felt exactly that: “standing room only”. And I got her unconditional love for all people, and how powerful that love is. I am inspired to create my own final official event based on all of the messages shared today: “how do I want to be remembered and what do I want others to say about me when I’m not there?” And that starts with unconditional love for all humanity and living a life I love: showing up unapologetically. So very powerful.
You are a very blessed man, Dr Ivan. Thank you both for being in our lives. We are blessed to know you are there.

I'll be praying for each one of you for comfort ....thank you for sharing her with so many people...may God bless every person who is left on this Earth to mourn and may God comfort each one of us who had to say goodbye until we see you again... love you Elizabeth and I miss you♡

To Ivan and family,

My friendship with Beth goes back quite a few years when we sang in church together in the 90’s and early 2,000’s. She was always so welcoming and kind and giving . She was very musical with a lot of natural talent and a great ear. I enjoyed singing with her very much. She encouraged me to sing more too.

Among some of the many memories I have, I remember a time that my friend was getting married in England and she wanted me to sing and Beth recorded the song for me so I could practice and also the accompaniment so I could sing the song at the wedding. I was so incredibly grateful to her for taking the time to record the tape for me.

We also spent a laughter filled mini break together in Palm Springs and Ivan lent her his corvette. What fun it was to drive together through the dessert in his sports car, top down with the wind racing through our hair listening to 80’s tunes.

Beth was outgoing, very giving and positive. I know she will be terribly missed by so many. She seized every opportunity and lived her life to the fullest. It feels like she accomplished more than several lifetimes.

My heart and prayers are with you Ivan and your family. I hope the many many memories you all share offer some comfort. Sending you love, compassion and healing thoughts.

Elizabeth was my movie buddy, we loved movies and even entered the Austin Film Festival with our ideas for films that were healing and full of light.

Elizabeth was many things to me and so many others. She was a friend, a sister, an inspiration. She lived life to the fullest and most joyous. Elizabeth is Ivan’s heart, she is beyond generous. She still lives for me, out of sight for now, with us for eternity.

Beth was grace....
Dear Ivan,
May God give you the grace and grit to keep walking, one foot in front of the other no matter how impossible the mountain feels to climb.  May He lead you by streams of living water, refresh your weary soul. May He take your burdens and give you a new song to sing. May He renew your faith to believe that fresh blessings await you just around the bend.  And tomorrow when the sun comes up, may His new morning mercies feel as miraculous as they are.
In love and the name of Jesus , Amen ❤

When I was young my myth was Lady Diana. Beth is by far the closest person to Lady Diana I've ever met... With her kindness in the soul, her elegance in the manners, her charisma that involves, her ability to make others feel important, her talent in taking care of others.
I will ever remember her shining smile and her lucent eyes while speaking of Business Voices.
She has been an inspiring guide and a sincere supporter in all our adventures in Busines Voices.
In september event, we dedicated these words to you to share our gratitude and love.

Had the privilege to witness the soft & polite personality of Beth, in Mumbai (India) last year. All I could do then is just wave at her from up close distance and she also did the same, smiling back. As a personality, I saw her smiling throughout the event - and indeed, all her pictures talk about the grace she carried 'wearing that smile'.
How beautiful she would've been from within.

I wish the family, the courage to come over this hard time.

My wife and myself were so saddened by the loss of your beloved wife, Beth Misner. So fast and so soon…
We can barely imagine what this means for you. We were lucky to have had the opportunity to meet her several times during Global Conventions, and we recall her as a passionate and emphatic lady. We are not surprised that she was the strength behind the strong man you are.
We hope you cherish the many good memories and win the strength from them to recover soon after a revitalizing mourn period. You both earn it.
Lately, it came to me that people we cherish the most remain in our whole live even after they passed away. I wish she still can give you strength and happiness.

We offer you and your family our thoughts, prayers and well-wishes during this dark time in your life.

I Met Beth at the TEDxCoriano on October 2019. She came all the way from Texas to Italy to speak at our TEDx Event, taking 3 flights. We had a busy schedule for Beth but she was always happy to share her time with the many people that wished to meet her from morning till after dinner. Since those days we stayed regularly in touch, sharing messages, conversations and zoom interviews. During the pandemic we shared pictures and thoughts, my wife Kerstin was participating because we had spend a few days together with Beth after her TEDx talk in Italy. Beth autographed for us a copy of her book, which we treasure as her legacy. The shock of Beth loss still lingers with us, Beth would have liked for the four of us to get together when she was sending pictures of Ivan, she was saying that we had a lot in common, and I would have liked to discover it with Ivan, but she has left all of us much too early. Our thoughts go to you dear Ivan,
please stay strong , we know that Beth is watching after you !

Her Life

Elisabeth Misner

November 1, 2020
One thing that would tell you a lot about Elisabeth is that she transitioned from being called Beth to being called Elisabeth.  She did that because she said that Beth means "house" and "Elisabeth" means "house of God."

She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Ivan Misner and her three children, Ashley Misner, Dorian Prin, and Trey Misner Tempest.

She was born on June 13th, 1964, in Fort Worth, Texas to John and Mary Prevo.  She was the eldest of three children.  Her brother is Jon Prevo and her sister is Tammy Prevo.

She obtained both a Bachelor's degree and a Masters degree in theology.  She was later ordained as a Christian minister.

Elisabeth started her career as a chiropractic assistant where she met her husband, Ivan Misner.  She left that field to work for BNI where she served in many roles.  She was a Regional Director for the largest region of BNI for several years.  She helped to write all the manuals for every role in the organization.  She then transitioned to the Marketing Director handling PR and marketing for the organization.  Later, she became the Co-Founder of the BNI Foundation and helped to raise millions of dollars for children and education all around the world.  When she stepped down from a formal role in BNI she was made Vice Chair Emeritus to reflect her many years of service to the organization.

While raising three children she obtained a black belt in Shotokan Karate and went on to study Tai Chi and later become a Qigong Master teaching at the Austin Spa Resort in Texas.  However, she would say that the most important job in life was that of "mom."  She loved being a mom and she loved her three children immensely.

She also loved reading, writing, painting, drawing, quilting, scrapbooking, speaking, decorating homes, fine art, wine, astronomy, meditation, and reading (it's in twice because she read a lot!).  She spoke three languages (Spanish, German, and French) and she knew sign language and a little Japanese.  She was truly a life-long learner.

She loved animals and flowers (especially bluebonnets).  She was incredibly excited every Spring because the bluebonnets of Texas would start to bloom.  She also loved Lavender oils and Rose scents.  She especially loved Texas and no matter where she lived at the time, she always told people she was from Texas.  Texas was her home wherever she resided.  She was incredibly happy to come back to Texas for the last six years of her life.

She did a Tedx talk in 2020 entitled "Saved by Rage."  Elisabeth also contributed to many books and wrote several, including Jesus and the Secret and Healing Begins in the Kitchen. Her last book, written during her illness and published just before her passing was titled: Called Out of the Church, 7 Steps to Living Beyond the Cross.   This was a very difficult book for her to write.  It is a parable about a woman's journey in the church and was the most heart wrenching book she ever wrote.

In the last few years of her life she called herself a "Lovetarian."  She loved people and she loved life.  Anyone who knew her, knew this to be true.  She was a gentle, loving soul who will be missed by everyone who knew her well.

The world is a little less perfect without her in it.

Love at First Date

November 19, 2020
Someone recently asked me how I knew Elisabeth was my soulmate when we first went out.  I’ve told the story many times and I cover it a bit in the book, Givers Gain, but I don’t think I’ve ever written it down as one story so here it is:

I first met Elisabeth in 1986.  It was at a Leadership Team training I conducted in LA.  I remember meeting her vividly.  She was young (23) and very motivated and I could see why the group elected her the President.  I also recognized that she was very smart and she was… gorgeous.  Although I was undeniably attracted to her – I was also in a relationship and didn’t connect with her again for two years.  In that time, unbeknownst to me, she moved from LA to Prescott, Arizona (many hours away).   I was scheduled to speak in Phoenix (about 2 – 3 hours from (Prescott) and out of the blue she called me.  Now (1988), I was no longer in that relationship and when she called, she said, “I don’t know if you remember me but we met in LA a couple years ago.”  My heart pounded but I calmly said, “yes, yes, I remember you Elisabeth.” She told me that her chapter knew she met me and they asked her if she would call me to see if I would “swing by” Prescott to speak to their group – so she asked me that question.  I knew I couldn’t just “swing by.”  I knew it was an overnight trip so I did something I have never done before – I said, “if you’ll have dinner with me, I’ll drive the  2 – 3 hours over to Prescott to speak to your group and she said “yes.”  That was about April or May of 1988.

Honestly, for her, it was a business meeting but for me, it was a date.  I could tell pretty quickly that she wanted to keep it professional and I remained a perfect gentleman all evening.  We spoke for hours.  Many, many hours.  I didn’t get her home until almost 1am and we had the BNI meeting that morning at 7am.

When I got home to LA the day after the meeting, I had a conversation with the nanny (Pia Jacobsen - PJ) who was watching my young daughter (who Elisabeth later adopted).  She asked me how that “date” went that I was looking forward to so much.  I told her that it was a "good thing that she lived so far away" and she asked me “why?”  I told her, “because if Elisabeth lived nearby I would ask her to marry me.”   She said, “are you crazy, you just got divorced – you can’t get married again so soon and especially after one date!”  I agreed that it was crazy and I told her I knew that I was a logical, left-brain thinker, but that there was something special about this woman and it was probably good that she lived so far away.  It would give me time.

Elisabeth and I then started talking a couple times a week by phone.  This was back in the day when long-distance phone calls were crazy expensive.  Beth couldn’t afford the calls so when she wanted to talk she would call me and we’d hang up immediately and I’d call her back because she didn’t make enough money to afford talking long. And I of course, called her directly a lot. We saw each other in person a couple times over the next seven months but the relationship was almost exclusively by phone.

In late December, we were talking and she said she had just gone to a Chiropractor's conference (she was a Chiropractic Assistant).  I was still running my consulting business full-time AND doing BNI close to full-time.  She asked me for some “business” advice.  She said she had two job offers and wanted my professional opinion (as a business consultant) as to which was the better opportunity.  My first question was – “where are the jobs?”  She said "one was in Dallas and the other was in Pasadena" (close to me).  I immediately told her the best one was Pasadena.  She said, “but you haven’t even heard anything about the offers!”  I said to her – “I don’t know if you get it by now but I’m interested in you.  I recommend Pasadena."  So, she moved out in February, left the chiropractor and came to work with me in March, I asked her to marry me in April, and we were married in May,1989.

While it wasn’t love at “first sight” it was, for me, love at “first date.”  We were married for 31 years. I don’t know “how” I knew.   I’m not sure that “knew” is even the right word.  It was something I “felt.”  And for someone like me, who values tangible information and facts, to get such an overwhelming feeling – I knew I needed to pay attention to it.  I'm glad I did.

I was very fortunate to meet Beth Misner madam in Global Convention in year 2018 as well as in year 2019 in BNI Mumbai Members Day. I took her video interview at BNI Foundation stall. I was little more fortunate to attend her Tai chi class also. Thank you so much for adding value in our life.
