Elise Crittenden Huie Ware “Lisa”, went to be with Jesus on January 1, 2023.  Lisa  was born on September 29, 1942 in Birmingham, Alabama to Malcolm and Sarah Huie.  Her family later moved to LaGrange, Georgia, where she grew up with her four sisters: Helen, Mae, Anne, and Ginny.

Lisa obtained a degree in Music at Belhaven College in Jackson, Mississippi and was a very gifted pianist.
Lisa married Howell Cobb Ware Sr. of Augusta, Georgia on August 23, 1963. She was a faithful and devoted wife for 59 years of marriage.
Her love for her husband and her family is a legacy that will endure for generations to come.

Lisa had a natural love for people, and she had a way of pursuing, moving toward, and going deep.  She sought out those who were hurting, entering into their pain.  She loved sacrificially and relentlessly all while pointing those around her to Christ.

Although Lisa never attended seminary or obtained a degree in theology, she had a deep understanding of the heart of God. She became a prominent speaker at Christian conferences nationwide.  As a learned teacher of the Enneagram, she incorporated the wisdom and knowledge of this relational tool to enhance self awareness in her counseling.

Lisa had a unique ability to articulate the truth of the Gospel, and her life was a light to all who crossed her path.

Lisa is survived by her husband of 59 years, Howell Cobb Ware Sr., sons Howell Cobb Ware, Jr. (Cheryl) of Madison, Mississippi, John Mark Ware (Paige) of Birmingham, Alabama, daughters Elisabeth Ware King (James) of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and Helen Ware Lovell (Robert), of Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Lisa was the proud grandmother of 10 grandchildren: Emory Grace Ware, Howell Cobb Ware III, Sarah Ruth Garcia (Ernest), Rachael Elise Cunningham (Tanner), Mary Frances Ware, Callie Cleveland Ware, James Waverly King III, Runa Patterson King, Grace Marie Lovell, and Elisabeth Gabrielle Lovell. She also was great grandmother to Austin Rene Garcia and John Tanner Cunningham, Jr.

A graveside service will take place at Westover Memorial Park Cemetery, 2601 Wheeler Rd, Augusta, Ga on January 14, 2023 at 11am.

Butch & I will have you inside our hearts, and will keep you all in our prayers. Lisa was THE person we all wanted to be. Such beauty, but so much more beauty in the inside - depth, faith, wisdom…loved talking with her. I know she’s free and happy now, and omigoodness - she led such a w wonderful life. I know her father God is so happy. We know we’ll all be together again. Just know we love y’all so so much.

Thank you Lisa (and Cobby!) for loving my family through some very difficult days during the Jackson years. I will be eternally grateful for the wisdom and example you both were to us; and for being the compassion of Jesus in our lives.

I will always remember the singles class at Trinity. Presbyterian Church.  It was such an honor to have Lisa there.  She was a wonderful spirit-led christian and helped each of us grow.  She will definitely be missed
