Dear Abraham Amkpa & lovely children,

Please receive the comfort of the Holy Ghost for this great loss at this time. What a time to depart?

Our Lord Jesus Christ never fails so we are confident that He will show His unfailingly love, faithfulness and awesome deeds of righteousness to make the journey ahead easy for all of us.

Elizabeth and my wife's junior sister, Barrister Eme Ukpong, were childhood friends back in Leeds. There were inseparable such that my late parents in-law had to bring both of them back to Nigeria ahead of the return of the parents of Elizabeth.

Testimonies of her good heart, giving spirit, gentleness, empathy, life of sacrifice, etc abound. In her career in banking and the media, she left clear footprints.

Earlier in the year, she had notified me of the burial of the remains of the late mum in Calabar due to Covid lockdown with the aim of having a reception later. It was therefore a shock to come across the Facebook post on her funeral service a few days back.

Eccles 7 has some words of encouragement for all of us. She left a good name behind. She touched a lot of lives. And we have taken note that it is better to go to the house of mourning than the house of feasting so that the living should remember that no one has a permanent residence here on earth. We will take turns to leave this earth. Eternity is real.

May we be comforted by the sweet memories of her great life on this side of eternity.

Mrs Amkpa was a good friend and colleague. As an alumnus of CEIBS we worked together on several projects and I remember her smile and laughter. She took things easy and always had a joke to lighten the mood. She will be greatly missed and I pray God comforts her family

What can I say Lizzy as you were affectionately called although I preferred calling you Elizabeth.
You were indeed a dear and close friend to my twin but you also embraced me as a friend. I will always cherish the times we spoke and when you sent me the “ Naija jokes”.
You came to see me on your way to Zambia for our birthday in June of 2019 and gifted me with birthday presents that I did not expect. It was such a pleasant surprise!! That was the kind of person you were, always giving and blessing others.
What a beautiful Soul and will deeply miss you.It feels so unreal writing this.I will forever keep the sweet memories we shared in my heart.
Rest on my dearest Sis, till we meet again.

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE

Dear Brother Amkpa and Family

With a heavy heart, we the entire class of '89 deeply commiserate with you and Family on the sad and painful demise of your dearly beloved wife and mother, Mrs Lizzie Amkpa

We received the sad news of her premature exit with grieve, though death is certain to every mortal, the loss of someone so dear as your beloved spouse and loving mother is very painful as she is irreplaceable.

Late Lizzie Amkpa (nee Elizabeth Ekaete Akpan) was our colleague and coursemate in the department of Communication Arts, University of Uyo from 1985-1989. She was quiet, unassuming, loveable and easy-going person. The news of her death came as a shock, particularly to some of us who had no contact with her since graduation. By our last count before 27th June 2021, she was one of us on this part of eternity, but the wicked hand of death snatched her from us. So sad that Lizzie's left us.

We cherish all the moments and memories we shared together during our school days. We have indeed lost a friend, colleague and sister. Please know that our hearts and prayers are with you and family at this period of grief. We join other members of the family to bid Lizzie eternal farewell. May the good Lord grant her soul rest and sooth the pains associated with her exit.

Enjoy your stay with your creator till we meet to part no more.

The first time I met you, I had just been invited for the first time to the LFF church by Sister Joyce. After service, you walked up to me where I sat and spoke to me so nicely with a steady smile on your face. You asked about my well-being, and before the conversation ended, you slipped some crisp Naira notes into my hand and said “buy yourself some lunch”. What you didn’t know was that I had no money on me save for the money that would have been able to pay my fare back home. You were an instrument God used to prove some things to me that day, and a silent but deep love for you grew in my heart from then on. You consistently impacted my life with your wisdom, tutoring, kindness, smile, and encouraging words, not to mention the material things. You were just different in your gentle ways and to know you was to love you.
Losing you is a huge loss that still feels surreal. To say I’d miss you is putting it mildly because you are forever engraved in my heart.
You were indeed a candle full of light, and I pray that we meet again where there will be no fear of death.
Sleep well, my dear Aunty.

Lizzy, Your demise is heartbreaking. It was difficult for me to believe that you are gone! You were a very good person.

The first and only 1-2-1 I had with you was magical and highly impactful. I and my daughter benefited from your advice. You shared information and contacts freely. They have really been of help to my business as well. You even promised a second 1-2-1 after COVID!

Lizzy, I am better for having met you. Though you left this world but not my heart.

Your warmth and Enthusiasm at the BNI meetings will be greatly missed. Your memories lingers on sis.

May you be as blessed in the next life. Rest In Peace Lizzy.

Dearest Liz,
It's still a blur that you are no more with us. I was really hopeful, praying that the Lord would hear and answer all our prayers, but I guess He couldn't wait to have you with Him. I look at pictures of you smiling/laughing and I smile because that is typical of you. That is how you will be remembered. Your laughter still rings in my ears. May the Lord comfort and console all those you have left behind. Rest in peace dearest sister and friend. You are sorely missed.

My dear Aunt Lizzie! I don't even know where to begin from. But i do know for sure that you played a major role in my life from my teenage years into adulthood.. You tutored me, prayed for and with me, you helped me get my very first job with Multi choice. I moved to Etisalat and you were active helping me achieve my targets and loading airtime and data you didn't need, introducing me to your friends to help me meet my target.
My wedding came, you were still so active ensuring preparation went on smoothly and contributed hugely towards my wedding.
I remember the days I just call you to gist and then you tell me to come spend the weekend with you.... those were days I can't forget in a hurry because I get to leave with at least three of your fancy shoes. Phew! You were such a giver never expecting anything in return.
You will be sorely missed Aunt Lizzie, a Diva and Fashionista who truly loved and served God without holding back.
Good night Aunt Lizzie till we see again on the resurrection morning. Love you pieces.

In the short period i knew you Lizzy, you were so magnanimous. I remember the first time we spoke one on one, you gave me concise advise on my business, and inside me i was marvelled that someone had took interest and precious time to meditate about my business and even in our discussion she had spoken to somebody regarding my business...wow..that was a rare quintessential love trait. This really endeared you to my heart. I am glad i had the priviledge of knowing you Lizzie.
So caring, so selfless, so amiable. You will never be forgotten....May your angelic soul find peace and rest in the Lord's bosom. Sleep well sweet sister.

Lizzie Dearie,
It is quite difficult to write a tribute to a friend and a sister of over thirty years! Our relationship was beyond friendship. We were a family and the news of your demise was very devastating to all.

You stayed strong and determined all through the sickness. Yes, you fought the battle with all your might until your last breath.

Well we cannot question God, because God had better plans for you, He loves you more than we do.

Lizzie was indeed a kind and generous soul, always reaching out to people. She was a “dangerous giver” especially for God’s Kingdom work, never tired of sowing seeds.

My friend was a virtuous woman. She was a loving, caring and wonderful mother to her children and husband.

She was committed and dedicated in all she did, no wonder she excelled and was outstanding in her career.

Lizzie my darling, it is painful to say goodbye. It is said, “a true friend is never truly gone, their spirit lives in the memories of those who loved them”. Yes! You will always be in our hearts.

Rest in the bosom of the Almighty God, my beautiful friend and sister.

Boss like no other!
Words fail me! I'm deeply hurt! I've cried my eyes out, refusing to believe that you passed on but slowly I'm beginning to accept that I won't hear your voice nor see your beautiful, ever smiling face again. We may not heal from this loss completely but we will learn to live with it.

I remember how it all started, we believed you would pull through because you were a fighter and so optimistic. Ma, you fought but God knows best!

I'm most grateful to have met you, to have worked with you, to have been loved by you ( that love extended to my family). You loved me like your daughter and impacted me, even in a short while. I'm glad I shared your last days on earth with you. You were such a force to reckon with! You have touched my life in a tremendous way, I lack words to express it. You had such great plans for us, you had even greater passion in identifying potentials in people and helping them grow and soar. God sent you to this world to touch and change lives and my greatest joy is that you fulfilled every bit of it! I take solace in that.

My dear beautiful, selfless, vibrant, stylish, caring, prayerful, adorable and witty boss! Always fun to be and work with, a goal getter! No wonder I became drawn to you so soon. I love you and miss you dearly. I will cherish every moment we shared till we meet again. I pray for grace and strength to accomplish what you started. Indeed you lived, you loved, and you fought a good fight and won.

It’s so hard to say goodbye but I know Heaven gained an angel.

Rest on Elizabeth Amkpa, till we meet to part no more.

Another leaf has fallen, another soul has gone. The tide rises and it also falls. I had an amazing aunt, one who never grew old. Death has no dominion so may there be no sadness of farewell, for she lives forever more in God’s eternal light. I can’t shed tears that she’s gone but i can smile because she lived. “Favor is deceitful, and beauty is vain. But a woman that fears the Lord, she shall be praised.” Not how did she die but how did she live. Aunty Lizzie had no wands or wings but knew what to do to make dreams and wishes come true. To my favorite aunty, may the wind always be at your back. I think of you with love everyday. Forever, now and always.

Your death is one of those times one is tempted to ask God why? You were God's gift to humanity. I remember during the peak of Covid-19 and my business was at a standstill, you were my encourager. You supported me fully in my diversification idea. All the way from Victoria Island, you sent your driver a number of times to my abode to collect my products to sell to friends and colleagues until the illness took hold of you. Infact Lizzy, you are unforgettable. You will live in my heart until the ressurecttion morning when we shall meet to part no more although it is difficult to say goodbye for now. May your gentle soul continue to rest in peace and God console and protect the family you left behind in Jesus' Name. Amen.

Sweet mama, as I fondly called you. A great leader, ever smiling, ever bubbly, always with a word of encouragement and a drive to create a positive impact at every given opportunity (even in pain!).
On that fateful day, had a strong urge to call and check on you as I had earlier promised. Eventually called, it went to voicemail and so left a message at 4.31 to say I would call again soon.
Soon..... never happened as hours later got the sad news! I will miss you sweet mama. Rest in peace and I pray for God’s comfort over your family.

Ufan Ima,

The plan was for you to travel out for better care and later return for an awesome healing thanksgiving to God Almighty. But today, through our grief, we’re raising a thanksgiving to God for your very impactful life here on earth.

I’m soooo glad I made that last 2-day trip to visit you in lagos. You and your dear hubby spoke so much about how the worst was over. You and I then tried to catch up on so much, through it all, you asked how our ‘old girls’ (FGGC Calabar ‘83 set) forum was doing and I replied that a few people had reached out to inquire of your whereabouts, having not heard from you in a while. Your reply was that they shouldn’t worry, you’d be back soon. But here we are…

The day before your departure from Nigeria, I came with the meal you’d ordered. Your beauticians were there too and it was such fun. I was feeding you, your manicure and lashes were being done - all at the same time. We were literally bumping into one another in our bid to shower you with attention. The medical staff on duty seemed amazed at how much love and goodwill you attracted. Even with them, I noticed how easily you threw banters. You were just a natural ‘connector’ a truly special one.

You were accomplished, yet authentic; no airs, no frills. Fiercely loyal, funny, witty, strict and yet so kind. Simple but extremely discerning. A great problem-solver and dependable friend.

The news of your passing really hit me hard; I’m just beginning to accept the reality and can only imagine the impact on your family. The last time I called to speak with you, I was told you were resting. How I long to hear your boisterous laughter again!!! My comfort is that you lived well and are enjoying your Heavenly Father’s reward. I’ll hold your memories close and forever cherish the many special times we we had together - From devouring your mum’s delicious afang soup with you and your sister, Angela, on visiting days back in boarding house, to the numerous things we did together as adults.

Adieu my dear friend. Rest on till we meet again.

I love you; I miss you.

Your Ufan Ima,
Ekaete

Dear Auntie Lizzy,

I remember long time ago when you used to visit when I was in my teens and you used to talk to us and also that one visit in University with advice and encouragement.

Little did I know you would be there to give me the ladder to my career path.
I thought we still had more time with you and I kept making plans for the future with you in it.
You were so full of life and still had Enough love to give. You were always ready to help and encourage many. I remember your words of advice and encouragement in regards to my life and career. You carried me along and taught me the ropes on career advancement......
You showed me how to give and always lend a helping hand. One of your many quotes was "A worker is worthy of his wages".

Thank you for touching my life and giving me the amazing opportunity of getting to know you better.

I will miss you.

Heaven has gained an Angel.
Rest well Auntie.......Till we meet again to part no more.

Madam lizzie , my boss my mentor. Words fail me at this time even when one of the things you taught me was to always speak up no matter who is in the room. You gave me my first job and not just giving me a job you tutored me all through my journey. When people saw a boy from the streets just privilege to go to university you saw a man full of potentials . You taught knowing a man would get you that thing you want but wont keep you there hence self development would. I discussed every job i get with you and you look at me with that motherly smile of yours which always tells me well done.
You encourage me everytime even when far from targets.
You were a true leader and mother you used the rod as much as the carrot.
I promise to achieve the set goal in the set time ma..
We lost one but am assured heaven welcomes one..
Adieu the boss lady herself
My wife would ask have i spoken to madam when she does not hear me talk about you in a while.
My daughter still has that first year gift you got her when you travelled.

I miss you my leader my mentor...

One of the most important thing in life is being able to discover and fulfil our purpose in life. I don’t think there is anybody you came across that you didn’t touch positively. You are a definition of love, generosity, kindness and it was unconditional and spread across board.

In the short time I knew you, I am so grateful I met you. Thank you for everything, you will be sorely missed, but our consolation is the fact that you lived a good, exemplary life and you are now in a better place. God will comfort your family and everyone you left behind.

May our good Lord accept your soul into his Bossom and grant your family the fortitude to bear this loss. Adieu my friend. Alas, it's time to say goodbye. Rest in perfect peace ❤️.

Dear Lizzy,

I was shocked beyond belief when I learnt of your passing.

I remember like yesterday the day we met for the first time when I came to Lagos. We became good friends straight away. Your faith, determination, selflessness, maturity and persistence inspired me so much. Working with you was so easy and even after we stopped being colleagues, you remained a good friend and confidant. I... read more

Dearest Lizzie ❤️,

The Good Lord blessed us with your beautiful heart, humor and love. My heart is sore, I’m thankful for all the memories we built in the short space of knowing you, you came to South Africa in 2017 and stole our hearts. We became fast friends and you opened your heart to me so generously that I am here writing a tribute as a friend and not a colleague.

My Friend and Sister, I’m at a loss for words…Heaven has gained an amazing Angel.

I’m going to miss you terribly, our silly late night chats, all the advise you’ve given me and the role you’ve played in shaping my life. I promise to make you proud.

You were the highlight of every trip to Lagos,, because you were always there - I’m going to miss your snoring and out late night snacks in bed, to name a few.

Fly with the Angels, love you always.

Aunty Liz (as I always called you), you always had a way of making things easy for everyone. Your faith level challenged me greatly as nothing ever bothered you not even death.

You were the very first friend my wife introduced to me when we were courting as "her childhood friend". You remained a true sister and friend for the past 28 years. Ever so faithful and steadfast you were.

Ever-Smiling Madam Lizzie

My Boss, Leader, Mentor.

You touched many individuals/families. You discovered many talents including myself.

You helped me see my self-worth, my strength, you believed in me even when no one gave me an opportunity!

"When I think of the word 'stand to be counted' I think of Madam Lizzie"

You left some wonderful memories that will never fade from my heart.

A beautiful soul will never be forgotten...

I pray for vitality and longevity for each and every one of us (Lizzie’s Team Worldwide) so that we live our destiny fully according to God’s plan for our lives. Amen

God Almighty shall be with your children, your husband (I called him Dad, Good man) and extended family. Amen

Rest in Peace Boss!

Dear Lizzie,

I am in shock, it’s impossible to think that your energy and love is no longer with us. You were already so gracious, tough as nails but with such a soft heart. Thanks to you I got my first proper facebeat in Lagos, what memories I will cherish from my time with you. I pray for strength and comfort for your loved ones, I can only imagine the loss they are feeling. Thanks for always checking in, you are missed and the world is poorer place with you gone.

Rest In Peace Madam

Audacious and vivacious Elizabeth,

That is how l choose to remember you, not as Madam Lizzie my boss, because from my boss you became my friend, big sister, Bible study partner and more.

Around my house there are things that remind me of you, from dresses to Ankara fabrics, lipsticks, skincare products, jewellery, perfumes, books, even spices, but your generosity was just one of your many virtues.

You were wise and welcoming. You celebrated people and weren't threatened by anyone's success. You were an optimist and maximalist to the core, my "Go big or go home" boss.

I have cried a little but l am not devastated because of our last phone call, and most importantly, because "there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."

Rest well, daughter of God!
