My Precious Step-Mother
I was privileged to have this wonderful woman in my life from the time I was 4 until I was 13, while she was married to my dad. She was more like a real mother to me though and I hate attaching the 'step' word.
Elizabeth was the finest Christian lady I have ever known and truly lived her faith. I never heard an unkind word from her and never a complaint. She did much for others and was totally unselfish, never wanting anything in return. She always had a beautiful smile and words of encouragement.
She handmade all my clothes and they were beautiful. I was the best dressed little girl in school. She could have easily been a professional dressmaker. She taught me all the good things in life, how to cook, sew, walk and talk like a little lady, (and that wasn't easy being the Tom-Boy I was), she taught me good manners, she taught me to play piano; but most of all, she taught me about Jesus and how much He loved me. She had my brother and I in church every time the doors opened and I was so glad for that spiritual foundation.
She had a full schedule working full time and being mom to two the two of us but she always had time for me. We would have long talks and I learned much from her.
I get so emotional typing this I may have to finish at a later date.
But one thing I can say for certain, "Well done thou good and faithful servant".
