Our mother Betty had 9 living children when she died.

She loved her children with all her heart.

Elizabeth Edith [Betty] Edgell, was born a twin. She was borne to
Lewis and Birdie Ella [Atwell] Edgell, on Atwell mountain Atwell W.V.4-19-1934
Both her parents were school teachers, and grandpa was also a black smith [the last one in the area]. Mom was the baby of the family of 11 children. Her twin was Tilda Lorraine.


She had to endure hardships all her life. Her dad Lewis died when mom was only3 yrs. old.
He left grandma to raise 9 kids by herself. [she never remarried] she had lost 3 sons within a 2 yr period prior to grandpa dying from Typhoid in 1937.

Mom grew up and married our dad Junior Johnson. She had 9 chikdren, and 2 miscarrages.
She had to endure even more hardships. She raised all her children and lived to see a lot of her grandchildren. She was Dx'd with breast cancer in 1994. She lived until Dec. 3, 1995
 She died at my house. She fought so very hard to live, but her little body was just to tired.
She went home to be with the Lord who she served and loved with all her heart.
