Elizabeth Landon, 93 of Ocean City, NJ; previously of Ridley Park, Springfield, and Wallingford, PA.
Elizabeth, known to friends as Betty and to her family as Tuddy, was born Elizabeth Alice George on March 14, 1924. Elizabeth was the 12th of 15 children born to Armenian immigrants in Philadelphia.
The church and music were central to the lives of the George family. Elizabeth and her sisters formed a musical trio that sang at area churches and on the radio.
Elizabeth graduated from West Philadelphia High School and the Taylor School of Business. She worked as a secretary at Jones-Miller, a Philadelphia stock brokerage.
Elizabeth married Howard Landon in 1953. The couple settled in Ridley Park where they raised two children, Lu Ann and Mark. Howard and Elizabeth were both active members of Ridley Park Presbyterian Church. Elizabeth sang in the choir and was a member of the church’s handbell choir.
When the children were older, Elizabeth was employed as a teacher and pianist at the church’s nursery school. She held this position for more than 30 years and touched many young lives.
Elizabeth always had a positive outlook on life. She enjoyed people, and loved to laugh.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Howard. She is survived by Lu Ann Blumenstock (husband James) of Ocean City, NJ; Mark Landon (wife Donna) of West Chester, PA; and granddaughters Allison Landon, Bailey Blumenstock , and Brooke Blumenstock. She is also survived by a sister, Virginia Adair of Wheaton, IL, and six nieces and nephews.
There will be a private graveside service on Wednesday March 22. Donations in her memory may be sent to Meals on Wheels America.
