Part 2: Having these young people with her seemed to be a very selfless act. I hope now that Ellen has passed away, she will find a peaceful place to spend eternity.

PART 1: I have known Ellen since our high school days in Royal Oak. Then eventually I became her sister-in-law, as I married her oldest brother. She had her ups and downs during her early adult years, but I think she always had a good heart. She especially was concerned about young teens who were having problems. She built a home in Northern Michigan and had a number of them living there.

Your love was always pure;
You treated me as your own.
Your time seemed all too short and
I feel so alone.
What can I take from this?
My heart is completely crushed.
But nothing loved is ever lost -
And you are loved so much❣

Great job Cynthia. The first pic I saw was my wedding picture with Ma. The memories evoked are so great. I had such great times with your mom, and great memories of you kids as you grew up. Family is so much more than blood. You are all part of mine and always will be. Thank you for this site. I will miss Ma for a very long time. I love you all.

Cynthia, Thank You so much for posting this memorial of your mother. Aunt Ellen was always so nice to me (Annie) and I also enjoyed very mush getting together with everyone at holiday time when we were kids. Many fond memories and just wish we all could of remained closer. Aunt Ellen was ready to be where she is now and we will surely all meet again there someday! She'll be missed dearly!

My heart is breaking quietly today, holding back the tears for now because I'm busy at work as an addiction counselor and others need my help for the moment. And this brings it all back. Ellen was a huge part of where I am...helping others help themselves...That's a long story...but I remember her as a Mother and a friend and a mentor and mostly for the power of love to change all. Thanks

I am so grateful that she went when and where she decided. And I was happy to have the chance to thank her for bringing Dave into this world and raising him to be the man I would marry (never thought *that* would happen) before she passed. RIP, Ellen. <3

Mom was a multifaceted lady who was full of surprises and never dull. I would love to read experiences and memories others have of her and to share who this fascinating woman was. Please feel free to contribute any photos or memories or songs or favorite mom sayings. Let us celebrate her life!

I'll always remember the Christmas celebrations with the cousins. I appreciated Aunt Ellen introducing us to Danish food to acknowledge our heritage. I loved the Leverpostej (Liver pate) on rugbrod (dense, brown bread). She always called me Nancy Jo. I actually liked it because I knew it was said with affection (rather than making fun of my goofy middle name). She was always lots of fun!

I had recently communicated with Aunt Ellen, who always called me Pammy, and know she is now where she wanted to be. She was lucky to have so many people whose lives were so positively affected by her. She will be missed. I enjoyed seeing the photos of her life through the years on this site, they brought back lots of memories.

Thank you for the generous inquiries on how to make donations in our mothers honor.Since Nathan Adelson Hospice was so committed to making her as comfortable as possible and allowed her to leave this earth on her own terms,a donation to the hospice would be appropriate for those who wish to:

Needlework she did

July 2, 2012

For years she did intricate needlework in cross stitch, crewel and rug hooking

She made wall hangings, purses/bags, clocks, ornaments, checkbook covers...all

sorts of projects.

So much patience! I never saw one stitch out of place, either.

What's crazy is I see a little of myself in every person in this picture.

That's Theresa.  I remember on her wedding night mom was so excited to sneak into their hotel room earlier in the day and short-sheet the bed.  It was a prankster side I hadn't seen before.  Remember the time on April Fools' Day she filled a meatloaf full of pepper because Jim loved pepper?  Man was he pissed, she always had a laugh at that.
