Ellen Marie Riggan Grissom, 80, of 1201 College St. died peacefully at home with her family after a lengthy courageous battle with cancer.

Born April 13, 1935 to the late Oscar Madison Riggan and Lillian Parham Riggan. She was lover of antiques and loved attending auctions and sales. Ellen worked for several years alongside her husband at Country Furniture and Crafts, a locally owned furniture store owned by the pair, until joining the Granville County Tax Office in 1981 and retiring in 2001.

She was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Melvin S. Grissom and a daughter, Amy Grissom Branch.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Friday, June 5, 2015 at Delrayno Baptist Church by Rev. D. L. Page and Rev. Renee Lloyd Owen. Burial will be in Meadowview Memorial Park.

Surviving are three children; Mary Ellen Stovall of Oxford, Jason Grissom (Nicole) of Raleigh, Dana Grissom Cash of Oxford, eight grandchildren; Derek Stovall (Kim), Ryan Stovall (Melissa), Jessica Lovings (Kendall), Tyler Garrett, Leighton Cash, Grant Cash, Spencer Grissom, Colton Grissom, six great-grandchildren, two sisters; Priscilla Adcock (Jimmy) of Oxford, Elizabeth Tippett, of Coral Springs, Florida, a brother, Oscar Madison Riggan, Jr. (Sharon) of Gastonia and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Delrayno Baptist Church building and grounds committee, 1315 College St. Oxford, N.C. 27565.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 – 2:30 Friday, June 5th, in the parlor of Delrayno Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
