I love you my sister
This memorial website was created in the memory of our loved one, Ellen Schiffiris who was born on June 2, 1950 and passed away on August 10, 2010. We will remember her forever.
Ellen was an amazing person that was multi faceted. Ellen was a sister that I could count on each night for my phonecall. I could also count on those three words each night-I love you. I do and will miss them forever. Ellen was a daughter. She had a wonderful relationship with our parents, especially our mother. Ellen was an aunt-she took great pride in her two nieces, Arielle and Genna. Ellen was a friend, cherishing her old friends and constantly keeping in touch. Ellen treasured her new chatroom friends, both NF and East New York. Ellen loved family and would often term cousins as Aunts, Uncles, Sisters and Brothers. Ellen was an artist, appreciating paintings, and drawings. She also had an amazing talent and painted beautiful pictures. Ellen was a respected Professional. She adored the children she provided Speech Therapy for and the feeling was mutual. Ellen was a traveler, visiting Europe and many sites in the United States. Ellen stated that her favorite places were Israel and New Mexico. Ellen loved the Beatles, especially John Lennon.Ellen had a deep religious faith and a strong sense of tradition. Ellen was the strongest person I have ever met. Through her many, many, challenges and obstacles, she perservered and purchased a beautiful co-op. It was furnished with sweet, sentimental, adorments and the sense of love and warmth permeated her home. Ellen fought valiantly against the physical and emotional challenges of NF and then faced the battle of cancer. Ellen did this alone-with strength and dignity. Ellen was my sister, Ellen is my inspiration and has taught me not to be afraid. I pray that Ellen is in peace, pain free and is surrounded by love and joy.
Ellen was born in Brooklyn and was pure Brooklynite, right down to her accent. she loved the Brooklyn neighborhood she grew up in speaking of it often in the NF chat room, and often talked of attending neighborhood reunions. she also was a diehard Mets fan but she also managed to make room in her heart for the Yankees something most Mets fans would cringe at. I also know she loved having been a teacher and spoke often about her students, I'm sure she helped so many Children and she touched so many people. she probably never even realized what an impact she had on so many peoples' lives.
