This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Ellis Lowe, 92, born on October 21, 1923 and passed away on April 19, 2016. We will remember him forever.

Thank you for visiting our father's memorial page.

It has only been a week since Ellis left us. So the sting of his departure is quite fresh in our minds. Please feel free to share a story or quip about Ellis so that we may once again feel the joy and lightheartedness of his sweet presence.

"Dad, we miss your sweet smile and kindness. Being with you always warms our hearts and comforts our soul. We will miss you so very much.

Much love,

Your family"

Dad treated others including me like royalty. He carved out time to take me as a 7 year old, to parent teacher night. Daddy made me so proud. After working graveyard shift, every New Years Eve, he made it a date to take me out to the all night movies at the T&D Cinema. It would be dawn when we emerged together from the movies. OH Daddy, thank you for loving your little girl and being faithful to our family. Integrity is your middle name and remembering you as a solid family man. See you soon.

Ellis was really a great man. I met Ellis in 1980 while working at the United States Postal Service in the Special Delivery Unit. Ellis took me under his wings teaching me the job and how important it was to come to work on time with a good attitude. Ellis was the Special Delivery President for the messengers. He always told me to invest in Real Estate as he had properties around Lake Merritt and China Hill behind Oakland High School. He always spoke highly of his wife Jane and his son who had joined OPD. When Ellis retired I took over his Union Position. I lost track of Ellis and I just happened to see his son on TV today and saw he was a Retired Captain. I know Ellis was very Proud. He had a Great Life 92 is Beautiful Life. His nickname was Tiger and May Ellis Rest In Heaven. Please accept My Belated Condolences to the Lowe Family!

Hi Gung-gung, I will always remember our dim sum days, learning to eat Chinese hot sauce with dim sum, enjoying chicken feet, and drinking tea with you as the endless carts of goodies passed by our table. You were generous with your time spent with me and my sister growing up, letting us hang out in your living room eating endless amounts of cherries in the brown bean bag (so much that I threw up!), I would hide under your dining room table because I did not want to leave to go back home, hearing you snore when we took naps, walking around the neighborhood, listening to the click-clack of MJ tiles as you played into the night with your relatives when we slept over. Thank you for dancing with me on my wedding day! You are missed and I look forward to eating a dan tat with you when I see you in heaven.

Dad, we miss your liveliness and love for laughter so much. It's a beautiful Spring morning and want to talk with you forever.
You'd be happy to know that your grandson, Zach is getting married in June in Florida. I know you would be so pleased.
Love, your Josephine

Happy birthday dad!

I’m sailing the Pacific coming back from Hawaii right now. I know how much you loved cruising, haha!

Today is your birthday and you’d be 100 years old today! Or is it 99? I get confused about when your birthday is…as it always seemed to change, haha.

I’m looking out over the water needing Mexico now and wonder what you’re doing. Your grandkids and great grandkids are all healthy and happy. Thanks for being the great dad you were!

Love you, Dennis

Josie and Family,
Tiger, though I don't know you, I can tell you are so very much loved and treasured by your loved ones, your abundance of descendants and friends. The beautiful pictures displaying your lovely life, fond memories and tributes of family and friends are all so heart warming. You must be smiling in heaven and saying, "I had a good life"! You are indeed blessed for being a good servant of God. You will be with the Lord in the new heaven and new earth, where there will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.

Josie and family, I'll always remember the many times we spent at your house. I guess it was early high school. The brothers were young boys and your mom and dad such loving parents, both with such beautiful smiles. Your parents, such a handsome couple. Those were great times.
My love goes out to you and your family, all blessed with a new generation of Ellis and Jane Lowe's descendents.

Singled out each by name to see His Transfiguration

December 10, 2020
When Jesus singles out Peter, James and John and his brother to accompany Him to the mountain rang up a distant memory for me.
I'll launch into the story of a distant memory:
My father worked the graveyard shift for the Oakland Post Office every New Year's Eve. Since I was 10, my father promised that after his shift ended, that he would take me to the all-night movies. To pick me amongst my other siblings to the movies made me feel super special that I'll never forget.
Imagine how much better it'll be to be singled out and spend eternity with the glorious presence of our Lord Jesus. Blown away. Just blown away by this promised day.

The Transfiguration17 And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James, and John his brother, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. 2 And he was transfigured before them, and his face shone like the sun, and his clothes became white as light. 3 And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elijah, talking with him. 4 And Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good that we are here. If you wish, I will make three tents here, one for you and one for Moses and one for Elijah.” 5 He was still speaking when, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son,[a] with whom I am well pleased; listen to him.” 6 When the disciples heard this, they fell on their faces and were terrified. 7 But Jesus came and touched them, saying, “Rise, and have no fear.” 8 And when they lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.

9 And as they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Tell no one the vision, until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”

Go in God's Favor,

Josie Wong
