Elma Louise (Jones) Rodgers, the women we all knew and loved.

The light that Louise brought to many lives was only out shined by love she held for her Lord and Savior. She touched many lives through her work with children for 40 years, both as a Sunday school teacher and preschool teacher. Her work with children seemed to fuel her passion for bringing love and joy into others lives. Louise knew how to light a room with her warm smile, kind words and uplifting praise.

The lady we all loved. Louise started her life with her mother Ann Shook and Father Arthur Jones, in Dayton Ohio May 21st 1951, being one of many siblings. It wasn’t long after graduating from West Carrollton High School in 1969 that she married the love of her life, her sweetheart Bruce E. Rodgers. During the 70’s she spent her time as a home maker and though she didn’t have children at the time she mentored and took care of many neighborhood children. Being active in her church and lighting up the faces of children with her fun, creative activities brought her the joy her heart desired. It wasn’t until 1985 the Lord blessed her with a bundle of joy her own, her son, Joshua Rodgers.

Louise took on many roles over the years but being a mother was what filled her heart the most, even with the mischievous behavior’s children bring. When her sister, Laura, passed she took on caring for her daughters, Ola Mae and Olivia. She adored her nieces, Noel, Anna and Dawn who lost their father, her brother Jamie, early in life.

Though her siblings had passed she still had the love she felt from other siblings, Kenny, Carol and Debbie through the end. Through the trial and tribulations of life she never ceased to lose, not just her faith but her warm embrace of love and peace.

Louise was a dedicated Christian taking her calling to bring light into the world through her work. Her generous heart, always reaching out to those in need. Her volunteer work to help families in need and make holidays special for the community was one of her passions. Louise Rodgers was one of kind, and the light she brought into this world will continue forward through her legacy and the lives she touched. May she find peace in heaven, reunited with the ones she loved. She will be waiting to rejoice and praise his name in the bounties of heaven, to embrace us with the love we felt here on earth, once again.
