Summer Vacations

The MacKenzie family would go to Tsawwassen BC to visit Elma and family for many, many summers in the 1960s. They would show us a great time, and at one point they took us across the border to the Gulf Islands and we spent the whole day on the beach having fun. After midnight came we spontaneously decided to go out on a small boat and see what we could catch. What could possibly go wrong?
We pulled the nets up and had managed to catch some crab. At one point one of the crab boxes opened in the boat and they were running loose on the floor and we scrambled to not get pinched! Most of us were barefoot. We were screaming and yelling on the boat while Elma, Ken and Clariss were on the shore tending to the bonfire, probably wondering what was going on on the boat. It was hilarious looking back.
It was a beautiful day, no rain, no clouds, and we spent all of it outside with family.
Elma was a great hostess and tour guide. She would take us places in Vancouver that we would have never seen on our own. I don't know where she got all her energy from, but I'm extremely happy for all the memories she created with us.
Best wishes from the Martin family.
