Elsie was the oldest of four girls and the third of ten children born to the late JW and Lyda Bell Mankin of Smyrna, TN. JW (Phyllis) Mankin (dec), Jimmy Mankin (dec), Kathryn (Robert) Ferrell (dec), Billie Wilson, twins Walter and Ben Mankin (dec), Joan Marie Mankin (dec), Clifton (Joy) Mankin, Lonnie (Janice) Mankin; 19 nieces/ nephews and 21 great nieces/nephews. In addition to husband Harold to whom she had been married for 69 years, she is survived by her two sons, Mark (Sally) in Spartanburg, SC and Jim (Pat) Ragsdale in Darien, GA and two grandchildren Kristen Michelle Ragsdale and Haley Elizabeth Ragsdale, two step grandchildren, Joey Lake and Jacqueline (Wally) Shaw and their two children Aidan and Hensley Shaw.

Elsie will be remembered by many for her years of devotion to the Lanett Church of Christ leading Children's Bible Classes and the Ladies Devotionals. She was also a devoted volunteer at Lanier Memorial Hospital even up to the age of 85. Her grandchildren were her delight and she leaves wonderful memories for them to cherish. In addition to having worked many years for Valley National Bank, Elsie had cared for many foster children. She was a devoted wife and home maker with a passion for her Lord and delight in serving others.
