Her Life
April 20, 2016

Elsie Torine Peterson was the 11th of 13 children born to Bernhard and Marie Peterson.  Elsie's Parents met in Story City, Iowa. They moved along with Bernhard's parents and all siblings except Uncle Peter to Chocolate Bayou area Texas.  About 1909 they moved back to Iowa.  After losing Elsie's sister Eleanora to the harsh weather, on the advise of Doctors, they moved back to Texas.  The man who had bought the farm had not recorded the deed yet, so he simply tore it up and they returned the money he had paid for the farm.  Elsie vaguely remembered picking up peach pits for the government to use to make cyanide gas for WWI.
