A Mammys Poem

We chose your name to be Emeilia Rose
but we never really knew what the future would hold We planned for your future We bought you clothes My heart knew you were a girl before I was told
So many times a day I ask myself “Why?” All it takes is the sound of a baby’s cry for me to realise that this is all real I have to remind myself it is okay to just feel
The loss of a child is the worst kind of loss you’re never really that far from our thoughts All it takes is the sight of a buggy or a pram and again I’m reminded of who I am
A Mammy to a tiny baby girl That was just not ready for this cruel world
My heart aches when I hear a certain song I constantly ask myself “What went wrong?” People say “It’s just one of those things “or that “she’s now an angel in heaven with wings” I am told that time will heal this pain Aswell as your daddy and your brother’s it is what keeps me sane.

I remember the day I had a scan at 17 weeks. I was told you were a baby girl. I couldnt take the smile off my face all day. I remember walking up the street and looking in shop windows at communion and christening dresses and imaginging us someday going to try on your dresses but its not to be. It makes me sad to think I will never get to do that with you. R.I.P my beautiful baby girl xxxx
