Her Life

Emma Lou King was born to her late parents, Charlell Pierson and MaryAnn Franklin on April 5th 1936 in New Orleans. Emma’s joyful spirit,peacefully, took flight the morning of August 8th 2015 to her final resting place where Jesus said “Welcome Home you have fought a good fight”.

She was joined in holy matrimony to her late husband, Earnest King who passed away earlier this year. They relocated to Miami, Florida in the early 1960s to start their loving family. During this loving union, they were blessed with ten beautiful children: the late Mamie Zackery, Barbara (Harro) Schmidt, Peggy Howard, Carolyn McClain, James McClain, Donnie McClain, Janice Whylly, Darryl (Michelle) King Sr., Sharon “Lisa” King and Cassandra “Tasha” King.
From their children, they were blessed with a generation of grandchildren:
Katrina Zackery, Tracy Pitchford, Victoria Holloway, Sherrell Howard, Teniqus
Lansey, Marquita McClain, Brittany McClain, Anastasia Whylly, Javariss
Lawrence, Darryl King Jr., Tristen Lawrence, Darmarqus Lawrence, Jamal
McClain, James McClain Jr., Jordan McClain, Dariel King. From this union,
they were blessed with 22 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
She also left behind her dearest brother, Ingram “Lee” Bethune.
Emma was also blessed with many nephews, nieces and cousins; including a
devoted cousin, Robert Tolbert that she loved dearly.
Emma is also leaving behind many friends from Miami. She was best known
for her tomato gravy and homemade biscuits. Many people will miss her smile
but will never forget it.
