This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Emmanuel Olushola Oyefolu, 57 years old, born on 2 October, 1963, and passed away on 15 April, 2021. We will remember him forever.

Emmanuel Olushola Oyefolu was born into the family of Late National Deacon Emmanuel Oluremilekun Oyefolu and Late Mrs. Christiana Aduke Oyefolu, from Ogun and Lagos State, respectively.

In his early life, Shola attended Ansar u Deen Primary School, Surulere, Lagos, where he obtained his primary school leaving certificate. Thereafter, he proceeded to Birch Freeman Secondary School and to Angus Memorial Grammar School Shomolu, Lagos, where he completed his secondary school education and obtained his West African School Certificate (WASC).

As a young and vibrant man, his love for the arts and creativity got him engaged with an arts firm, with the assistance of some friends and colleagues in Surulere, Lagos. This new occupational field enabled him to travel the country far and wide.

Progressively, Shola joined the banking industry, working at Citibank Plc. Lagos, as a pool car leadman. Here, he leveraged his experience to benefit the company, making a colossal mark. He later worked at TOBETT Dredging Company, owned by Prince Kayode Odedina aka Babankay, before moving to the United Kingdom to be reunited with his wife and children.

A man of many nicknames, Shola was fondly called “SHOLLY BAY” by family and friends; he was a motivating, joyous, loving and lovable member of the Oyefolu family. His extraordinary character and vibe were the epitome of love, humility and a positive expression of friendship. Also known as “BABA POWDER”, Shola's uniqueness and flair bestowed upon him this title, as he moved around with white powder to freshen up anytime, anywhere. His sojourn to the United Kingdom in 2015 earned him the title of “Lord Bishop of England”. He was well respected and acknowledged by his family and community.

As a child from a Christian background, Shola expressed a great love for music and musical values. He was an instrumental guru of great repute, playing the Drums, Saxophone, Trumpet and Guitar. He dedicated most of his life playing with various church choirs; from The Church of The Lord to The Eternal Sacred Order of Cherubim and Seraphim, Sholly Bay was a master of his game. As time passed, he was the lead instrumentalists of a well-known Lagos highlife band, known as The Evergreen Brother's Band, in the mid-90s. His musical gift has transcended to his beloved children.

With the regrettable loss of his wife, Late Mrs. Iyabode Oyefolu, Shola devoted the last days of his life to service to God and humanity, especially his children - Toyosi, Tosin, Tolu and Tobi Oyefolu. The latest grandad in the family, Sholly Bay loved mankind and the goodness of God Almighty.

Shola has contributed greatly to the progressive existence of the Oyefolu family, the evangelism and Gospel of Christ Jesus. He worked towards laying a solid foundation for the propagation of the kingdom. Shola was able to balance life’s challenges, putting smiles on the faces of his entire family, friends and everyone he came across.

Shola weathered the storm and withstood the test of the tide.

ALAS, DEATH BE NOT PROUD, FOR YOU ARE A VESSEL TO THE PROMISED LAND. A CHANNEL TO THE GLORIOUS KINGDOM.

ADIEU SHOLLY BAY. FOREVER IN OUR HEARTS!!!

My last recollection of interaction I had with Shola was in 2007 when I can home for my mom’s burial ; I had on this shaky high heel shoes...Shola saw me and ask if I was going to make it with those shoes... the way he said it was so funny... we just both started laughing
Shola, May your soul through the mercy of God Rest in Perfect Peace. May God’s Perpertual Light continue to shine on you. Amen

My name is Olugbenga Fred. I really don't know where to begin this tribute. We were all born into The Church of The Lord Aladura ( Elegbata ) Apongbon. Myself and Shola have come a looooong way together even before he met and married Iyabo his heartthrob( A submissive and ever smiling woman).
We were the 4 Musketeers, namely, Shola Oyefolu, Gbenga Fred, Ibukun Gabriel, Lekan Shokunbi. Our parents were friends and all our siblings together. Music and God was our driving force. We were all in the choir and also playing at different churches and gigs together. The story is too long and can't be shared today alone.
SHOLLY BAY, how do I begin to write tribute about you? Let me stop here for now and ...
I LOVE YOU MY BROTHER AND FRIEND.
Your Bossom Friend,
Gbenga Fred.

Brother Sola Oyefolu was the most active and visible member of the Oyefolu Family after their Dad, Late Deacon Emmanuel Oluremilekun Oyefolu in the Church of the Lord Aladura (Elegbata),Apongbon, Lagos. He joined the Church Band at a very young age and tried to master most of the musical instruments without any formal tutoring but specialised in playing the drums up till his demise. He was very amiable, friendly and also possessed a great sense of humour. He mingled with the young and old naturally. He is very noticeable anytime he is around the church and social gatherings. He was a devoted Child of God and will be greatly missed. The news of his early demise is a great shock to the entire Church but we have to take solace in the fact that he has gone to rest with the Lord. We are optimistic that he will be amongst the heavenly choir whose duty is to praise and worship the Most High God eternally. May the Almighty God continue to rest his departed gentle soul in His bosom until we meet again at the feet of Jesus Christ. We pray the Almighty God continue to watch over the children he left behind such that they will all fulfil their destinies and purpose for their creation while also granting the entire Oyefolu Family the furtitude to bear the untimely and irreparable loss in Jesus Name, Amen. Adieu, Bro Sola!!!!

A TRIBUTE TO COUSIN SOLA OYEFOLU

It is very sad to write a tribute for our cousin, Asholly as fondly called.
He was such a pleasant jovial person. Without a doubt, a very observant, attentive, knowledgeable and spiritual man, with a contagious smile and infectious laughter.
May the Almighty God in his infinite mercy rest your soul and continue to keep the families and friends you left behind.
You shall be greatly missed. Adieu.

Bro Shola was a great lover of music. I always enjoyed when he's on the drum set and Konga at Elegbata and Selected choir. He loves God and that can be seen in His children. He will be greatly missed. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace and perpetual light shine upon him. I pray the Lord will be with his children and the entire family he left behind. Adieu
