I attended St Joseph’s College, Ondo, from 1977 to 1982. While in St Joseph’s, I heard about Engr Adegbulugbe who had graduated many years before with flying colours. His academic record was such an inspiration to me and other students. I strove had to do well in my academics as well. Little did I know that, one of these days, I would get to meet him one on one. I also attended the same university as him and studied Engineering as well. He inspired me even when I had not met him. Meeting him later was such a joy and greater blessing for me. In spite of his giant strides in life, he was still very humble, approachable, loving, and unassuming. He was such a gentle giant, a lover of God and God’s people. It was such a rude shock to me when I heard that he had passed on to glory. I still saw him a little over a month before he passed. Anyhow, we rejoice in the assurance that he is resting in the bosom of his Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ. We will miss you Daddy. May the Lord comfort Mummy and the children. Shalom.

Dear Uncle Johnson, it was such a joy knowing you. It still feels like a dream but God has the answers to all things.

You were passionate about everything that you did. You were truly a selfless person and only God can give that type of selflessness.

May the Lord that you are now with comfort the family you left behind and may you live on in our hearts.

Amen.

You will be sorely missed.

TRIBUTE TO A WONDERFUL IN-LAW
Brother Ade! Your sudden departure to the world beyond came to us as a blow and rude shock.
We never foresaw or thought of your demise this soon. We are greatly saddened by your unannounced exist, but who are we to query the Almighty God, for He giveth and taketh. Glory be to His name.
You will be greatly missed in our family, for you acted not as an in-law but as a sibling of the family.
Your commitments in all ramifications to our family, and your indefatigable role in ensuring that we have a united family cannot be overemphasised.
You were a unifier , role model, pillar and a comforter. You took special interest in ensuring the peace and happiness of those around round. You were always very cheerful even in the the face of challenges.
Our consolation is that we shall meet again. Continue to rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ until the resurrection day, when we shall meet to part no more.

I still find it difficult to come to terms with the fact that you are no longer in this realm. I will not consider our relationship very long but it was impactful.
Our paths crossed for the first time at Elijah Hall at the inauguration of MFM Men Choir in Nov. 2009.
Inspite of coming from different backgrounds (you, an Engineer from Ondo State and me, a Banker from Edo State), we hit it off immediately.
We shared so much in common---virtues of honesty & transparency, peace with all, obedience to authority, commitment, fear of God, love of family etc.
We both discovered our Christian faith/journey began in the Anglican Church and were Choir boys early in life. Luckily we served together in the Executive of Men Choir and endeavoured to instil the discipline of old in members of the group believing strongly therein lies the greatness of any Choir. You looked forward to the choir practices and arrived punctually never missing any ministration except when not in Lagos.
Then came COVID 19, which forced so much physical separation of human beings all over the world, Nigeria not being an exception. However, we were in constant communication to the end.
I remember putting a call through to ask after your wellbeing on Monday afternoon, 12th April and you responding to that call with a message on Tuesday, 13th April saying "Thanks my Chairman, I am doing much better. Regards." I responded with "All glory to God for good health. Rgds to madam." Come Friday, 16th April for me to learn you passed on the previous day, Thursday, 15th April, 2021.
It was personally devastating but who can question God who does only what is right.
No doubt Men Choir lost in you a committed member and a strong pillar that will be difficult to replace.
You were such a forthright human being and committed family man. This is evidenced in the quality of children you and mummy raised for the world. No one that came across you in life will not feel a sense of loss.
We thank God for the gift and grace of your life. May you rest eternally in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Adieu great soul!
Yemi Ojeahere, MFM Men Choir.

I still can’t believe I am writing a tribute because of your passing. You were a great uncle and a great father. I remember like yesterday when I lived with you for a couple of years - your honest fatherly advice. You were kind, hospitable, easygoing, loving, caring and generous.

Your demise came as a rude shock. We wish we had more time to continue to appreciate you but we take comfort in the fact that your mission on earth have been fulfilled. We thank the Lord for your life and bid you farewell. You are gone but not forgotten.

Sleep well, Uncle.

Beloved Uncle Johnson, you were a rare gem; quiet, gentle but strong and generous. You cared for so many over a period of time that would have made most weary. Our hearts are heavy, filled with the memories of the constant love you gave, the firm and unrelenting spirit you shared. You had nicknames that made us feel very special. Mine still rings in my head. The love you gave over many years was consistent and strong. You were a gentle giant. We pray that God’s spirit and grace fills the gap you left in the lives of your dear wife, children, brothers, sister and the extended family. Words are not enough to express how much we all miss you but to God be the glory always. Rest in His piece beloved Sir J.

Dear Dad,

You left us so suddenly, it’s still unimaginable to me that you’re no more with us in this sinful world.

Thank you for being more than a father-in-law, thank you for being a dad to me, for being open, warm, loving and approachable.

Thank you for raising an amazing husband, brothers and sister, thank you for teaching us about leadership, sacrifice, love, how to build a godly family, and most importantly the way of the Lord.

We rest in the knowledge that you’re at the feet of the Lord, and we take huge solace in that knowledge.

Thank you for everything.

Rest In Peace Sir.

Tribute to my father, my hero, a legend and a gentleman

Daddy, you are my hero, a legend, one of a kind. The lives you have touch make your absence difficult to contain and the void immeasurable. You showed us how to live a reputable life, how to cherish the simple things of life, how to live a sacrificial life and the values of an honourable man.
Thank you for the lessons of life you gave me. Thank you for the discipline that made me who I am today. Thank you for the support and encouragement when life threw me a curveball. Thank you for the times you shared in my pain. Thank you for the wisdom you impacted in me.

In my grief and sadness, I remember your words “Be humble, love family, show kindness but most importantly, fear God”. These, I will never forget but keep to heart. Daddy, you taught me so much and I miss you everyday. I saw your sacrifice, your love and your strength. I will never forget. Your absence hurts but “yet a little while” and we will meet again at the feet of Jesus.
Adieu papa.

TRIBUTE TO MY FATHER AND MENTOR

May 10, 2021
My father, Johnson Adewale Adegbulugbe, “Daddy” as I call him was a good man, he thought us all to be steadfast, trust God and never to get too big to serve in the vineyard of our creator. He was a man of very modest lifestyle and expressions. He believed your works should speak and your voice not necessarily heard.

He always drove us to be better and to live a balanced life. In his words “never rob Peter to pay Paul”. He was a man of excellence and ensured we performed on every task and project to the best of our abilities and resource available per time.

Daddy was a man of peace, a bridge builder across various strata and generations, he was a lover of God. He served God to the very end and never sought other ways outside of God. I will simply call him a man of God.

Professionally he was an astute engineer, enjoyed the company of his colleagues and was always eager to learn from younger professionals. In business he was a trailblazer, not too much of a risk taker and exhibited unrivaled integrity in his business and partnerships. This I know having worked with him in business and professionally.

He was open to the merger of the good in our culture and its integration to modernization essential for growth and development. I never saw Daddy disrespect any man or woman irrespective of age and status. He thought us independence and severally reminded me “no one owes me anything in life”. This has helped me express gratitude for all the little and not so little favours I have received at every point in my life.

Daddy never put anyone under pressure, he often said “it is not how fast but how well”. I am proud to always call you father and mentor. I love you Daddy to eternity.

I sure would miss your advices, your calm and the selfless service to me, your family and friends.

Adieu Daddy

Oluwafemi Adegbulugbe

TRIBUTE FROM THE CHILDREN

April 20, 2021
Daddy, Nothing is the same without you.
Silent are the hearts that love you.
Living here without you is the hardest of all.
Your heart was kind and true, and when we needed someone we could always count on you.
We will miss the silent moments of wisdom you often shared with us that paved ways through the maze of life.
It is said "A man is not dead while his name continues to be spoken"
Your name (Sir J) will continue to ring out from the lips of all the people whose lives you impacted over the years, while we take solace in these words:-
"To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die".
As the Sun eventually rises behind every cloud of rain, we will think of the many things you did for us and with heads held high, we will continue to strive to be worthy of your name.
“Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven, blossomed the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels.”
Adieu Sir J, Adieu Daddy- Forever in our hearts.
