ForeverMissed

My Dad has called many places home and since we cannot all come together, I have created this website to honor his memory.

My dad had many fond memories of his childhood in Nuevo Laredo.  He loved to tell us about his aunts, uncles and cousins. Hopefully, they can fill in some of the details of that time of his life.  "Quique" loved his parents and his family back in Mexico very much.  He and my mom dreamed of going back to Mexico and retiring there some day.
Enrique was a very generous man.  He loved giving presents! My fondest memories are our Christmases together.  One of his last and most lavish gifts was affording me Truby House (a business here in Greensburg).  My last moment with him was telling him the exciting news that the city council had approved our project.  I left him with a big grin, as he clapped his hands in excitement.  He was truly pleased to see that the dream had become a reality.
My dad loved to laugh, and some of his biggest belly laughs were when the joke was on him.  He was always known for being an exceptional and compassionate nurse.  He loved helping others with his vast medical knowledge.  He proudly served in the United States Army. He treasured spending time in his gardens.  He was an amazing dancer and missed it very much in his last days.
He enjoyed his grandchildren and was so happy to be able to be near them when he and my mom moved from Texas to Pennsylvania.  He adored my mom, and I'm not sure he ever really recovered after her passing.  He went to be with her almost 3 years to the day after she went home.  I love my Daddy with all my heart and am so glad he is now resting with my mom in heaven.

Thinking about Enrique.

If Enrique had a planet, it must have been Mercury. Close to the Sun, quick, always warm and sometimes hot, and with rapid changes.

He was, as we saw him, a great reader and sensitive to the beauty of art and literature, but when he visited us in Canyon, he took up "his" place on the window sofa, and immersed himself in Nature. His book would temporarily take second place, and he would closely chronicle the endless wars between the Steller Jays and the squirrels, the occasional deer and the rich foliage of the oaks, the bays, and Theo's garden.

We had hoped that somehow he would be able to visit us by the sea. He would have had his choice of places to recline and read, or to sit and contemplate land, plants, birds, and water.

Enrique was always welcoming and peaceful. I enjoyed visiting with him often as a teenager. He was patient with the knucklehead kids that ran around his house on weekends. And he always made it a point to talk to us and make us feel welcomed. He will be missed!

I loved my grandfather each and everyday that he was with us. Through the ups and the downs Enrique was a man filled with love. He showed this through his generosity and his willingness to help others. And I'm going to miss him everyday he's not here. I love you Poppie, please say hi to grandma for me. ♥️

His Life

From Brenda Fielding

Andre was a wonderful friend of mine. We met when he returned from Viet Nam and I was in my 2nd year of college.  This was over 50 years ago.  He had a great smile, a wonderful laugh, and a great sense of humor. My life has been better because of my friendship with Penny and Andre. We shared good times, bad times, vacations, and lots of laughs. I am grateful for all those years of friendship and will remember him with a smile on my face.

Brenda E Willett, my deepest and sincere condolences to you and the family. Your beautiful handsome dad was my fun loving cousin. We would keep it touch through FB. And reminisce when we (my parents & I)would visit my grandparents in Nuevo Laredo. my dad was brother to Quique mom, my beautiful Tia Alice. I have beautiful memories of us which I will cherish forever. He was so ready to join the rest of the family in heaven. He missed Penny dearly. It saddens me but with the same token it brings me comfort he’s at peace and happily reunited with everyone! I send you lots of hugs & prayers during this difficult time. May Enrique Elizondo Rest In Peace.

Enrique and Emily were like my adopted parents. They took me on so many vacations with them when I was young. They always took care of me and loved me as their own. I always enjoyed being around them and have so many fond memories of our time together, they always kept thingsinteresting and exciting. I am so thankful to have had them in my life. I miss them greatly.

One of my favorite memories of Enrique was the Christmas here in Sweetwater that Emily decided to gather a small group of Aglow ladies to go to several elderly people’s homes and sing Christmas Carols. Enrique decided that he wanted to go along. It just wouldn’t have been the same without him. He had us laughing the whole evening.
Enrique and Emily, both, were such wonderful hosts. Always felt so welcome in their home. So thankful to have known this couple in this lifetime. May their legacy of love and kindnes continue on in those they loved so much.
