This memorial website was created in memory of our loved one, Eric AHLIJAH, a son, brother, father, husband, nephew, in-law and grandad. What can  we say: your sudden departure came as a shock to us! Though we know you are now in a better place, you will never be forgotten. Always loving, always caring, always there for whoever and whenever. You went far and beyond to care for anyone in need! We know you are now resting peacefully in the bosom of the Lord! ADIEU brother, your light shines on

Our birth is our death
The celebration of our birth
Is the commemoration of our death
Behind the celebration of every birthday,
Is the insipid fear of looming death!
Time is the ultimate extinguisher
That quenches the dangling flames of man
Burning life into ashes and dust
Every birthday is a gain and a loss

He saw the light of day some 60 years ago. Yes, it was all joy as he cried for coming into the world of uncertainty. But the was joy as a son was born. Like the sun,you sailed across the sky on your mortal journey. Sometimes shining so bright and fierce. Sometimes the dark clouds of life shaded your light but you never gave up, as you kept going towards the ultimate end. Yes, your sun might have set without reaching the 3 scores and 10 but, you left your footprints on the sands of time.
Go and meet your maker!
Go and have your rest in your heavenly chambers!
Go and join the host of Angels

Tribute from Joki

This is Joki's tribute
O kuma bola Eric malea”  is a phrase by Ma Doh that remains ingrained in my brain!
Dzifa was my cousin, my younger brother and a true friend.  And yes Ma Doh,  I always looked out for him.   What I remember most fondly about our friendship, especially in the late 70s/early 80s in good old VICTORIA, was the sheer fun and joie de vivre that our little band of brothers shared as we struggled to navigate the transition to true adulthood.  The list is long: playing tennis in Victoria and Yaounde;  line dancing in Bay Saloon;  “clearing” the farm/yard at the back of the Ahlijah house in mile one;  family picnics, swimming and running on the beach in Victoria; discussing politics, girls and hanging out at the University of Lagos, ad infinitum.  They were indeed fun times!   Eric was a father at a young age and never shied away from his responsibility.  The love he had for Sena was very evident to anyone who cared to observe the interaction between the two of them during Sena’s early years.  Unlike some who may have dropped the ball, Eric kept his eyes on the prize and completed his studies to join the list of  successful bana ba Sawa! He was also a fierce defender of family members, loved everyone dearly and never took his responsibilities lightly.  Alas,  life is what it is!  Like Victor, Carl and others, I also looked forward to a time when we could all sit back on a verandah somewhere in Victoria and reminisce about the good old days.
Fate has decreed that you join Ma Doh and your Dad a little earlier than anticipated my brother!  We will miss you!
Wala bwam !
Your big brother, TJ

Every journey is a story

Related as Life in Glory

In this world where men but tarry

Craving to meet with Divine tally.

Drive on, Grand Frere, to Glory Land -

Zion, the place for you to stand

In the midst of all with a hand

Free to lend to all those who stand

Asking for aid to understand

Such things this world cannot explain

Even as we strive hard to to train

Reason and betray not the brain

Given  for man to seek to gain

Essence of life to start again
