Erica Yvonne Wright (Scott), age 74, died at Hospice of Dayton on September 3, 2023. Her daughter was by her side as she finally took her rest from a long, hard fight after a traumatic car accident earlier this year. She was a strong woman of faith and found peace in knowing she would be reunited with her dear husband, Mark Nathan Wright, Sr. They were married for 52 years before his passing in 2019.

Erica was born September 19, 1948, in Oberlin, Ohio to Burrell and Bonnie Scott. She married Mark Wright of Germantown, Ohio on July 22, 1967. They had two children and lived in Ohio and Florida. She will long be remembered for her culinary skills. It was her delight to cook alongside her husband as they prepared for the family at small events and big events like Thanksgiving dinner. She was famous for her lemon pound cakes and chocolate pound cakes; and it is no secret she sifted the cake flour SEVEN TIMES to make them melt in your mouth. Everyone loved her cheesecake, potato salad, and sparkling lemonade. Erica discovered and became an avid watcher of Korean dramas and detective series. She loved playing online puzzle games.

Erica Scott Wright was preceded in death by her late husband, Mark N. Wright, Sr. her son Mark N. Wright, Jr., and her brother Lawrence Scott.

She is survived by her daughter, Brooke Wright; granddaughters Patricia (Michael Robison) Adams and Eleanore Simons; great-grandchildren Harper and Myles; sister Patrcia Timus. She had many nieces, nephews, and cousins who will greatly miss her. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

A small graveside service will be held at a future date per the wishes of the deceased. She will be buried alongside her dear husband.

Arrangements by W.E. Lusain Funeral Home, Dayton, Ohio.

Loyal, Creative, Organized, Tenacious

September 23, 2023
I’ll begin with a description one might never associate with Erica, (Peggy) if you didn’t know her, tenacious. But it’s what cemented her many talents, harnessed her vital force to manage her health challenges, and anchored her when buffeted by life’s storms.

Some know that Erica organized all of my many professional endeavors in medicine and media. She was my manager and executive assistant, interfacing with TV producers and executives at NBC Today Show in New York, the Discovery Channel in Maryland, and 20th Century in Hollywood, as well as my medical department colleagues and staff at Johns Hopkins. She arranged, in great detail, my many engagements throughout the USA; booking them, turning some down, with grace and creative aplomb.
The feedback to me about their interactions with my manager was of her reliability, kindness, and confidentiality, and of how much they enjoyed talking with her. I worried for nothing, Erica had thought of it and/or had implemented it. I could not have accomplished so much without her.
Some may know how creative she was. She was an artist with impressionistic and modern art tendencies, using vivid colors. Her paintings embodied her life’s energies. She had eclectic and distinctive taste. As a contractor’s daughter, she understood how a room or house needed to be renovated or built and as an artist what to do with a room to make it uniquely beautiful and livable(interior déco).

Peggy was loyal to a fault, to her family, friends, to me. Her loyalty was her bond, and an expression of love. We shared more than the DNA of family. We shared a lifetime of good and testing times. Peggy meant a lot to me. I loved her and she loved me. What a divine gift to have had for so many years.
