Erika Michele Simmons was born in Birmingham, Alabama on May 19,1969 to Lois C. Simmons and the late Michael Eric Simmons. She was the first of three children.
Erika was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church where she is remembered for her beautiful voice and work in the choir.
She attended the Birmingham City Schools where she was a student of Elyton Elementary and A.H. Parker High School where she graduated in 1987.
After graduating high school Erika went on to study religion at Samford University. She was a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority. She worked for 13 years at the Veterans Hospital.
After leaving the VA Hospital, she worked in the Birmingham City School system. She was a highly desired substitute teacher who had a gift with children. She had a special gift working with autistic youth. Soon after she moved to Atlanta, Georgia to pursue her dream in entertainment, music, writing and recording numerous songs.
Erika Michele Simmons passed away on March 19, 2020 in one of her childhood homes in Birmingham, Alabama.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Dayna Quates. She is survived by her mother,Lois Simmons daughter Kaylan Simmons, son Terry Simmons, brother Christopher Simmons, sister Kimberly Simmons. Nieces, Jasmyn Fritz, Autumn and Ambria Simmons and Nephew, Aaron Simmons and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family.
