Happy Birthday to my late brother Ernie that was without a doubt a giant among men, a kinder soul never walked the earth, and truly he was the VERY BEST BIG BOTHER anyone could ever ask for.. RIP Ern..
December 21, 2022
On Monday, December 19th, 2022; a large group of former "Crain" employees, met for Christmas Breakfast...  One of many things was missing, and that was Ernie Gaw, and his broad brimmed Cowboy style Hat, along with his pleasant conversation, and obvious care.
Yes; I'm sure everyone missed Ernie.  I know that I did. I will never forget him.

Like Ernie, most of us grew up working at R.L. Crain. He was a great guy!

To a great friend and comrade

Ern, we go back a long way ...back when their were no hunting licenses..no fishing licenses..no gun licenses..and you did your driver's test at the corner gas station which was beside Carver's Drug store on Richmond Road.

I think of the times we spent at Seeds Bowling Alley playing pool..loser pays..and the countless hours spent at Lila Mooneys. These memories will always be foremost in my mind....I will truly miss the "shot of rye " we always had together whenever we met. As you used to say "its five o'clock somewhere".
The Deer hunting trips with Niel Shield at White Lake...I still tell everyone that one of my arms is longer than the other from you and I dragging that deer, nearly a mile, out of the woods .

Farewell my friend, these memories and many more of our times together will always be remembered. You will truly be missed by all those who have had the opportunity to come into contact with you....

Goodnight, my friend..I'll see you in the morning.

My Cousin, My Brother

January 3, 2015

I grew up with Ernie and looked at him as my big brother.  In those days I was the scrawny kid that always got in the way.  As we grew older Ernie started to watch out for me and gave me that brotherly love.  I will miss you Ernie.  You have always been there for me and I thank you for that.  Hopefully that wonderful love will be passed on to someone else.   Forever loving, Lyn.

One of a kind

To Scott, Cory, Eldon, Phyllis, Lynn and families....our deepest sympathies in the passing of dear Ernie.  Hugs to all of you from Kathie, Shayne and Noah.  xo

....Ernie, you were truly one of a kind.  It was our honour to know you and you'll be dearly missed.  Here is a poem (paraphrased) by Jay Snider that we thought would fit a guy like Ern...a real good feller.

Four Little Words

Four little words have stuck in my mind
From the time I was just a small child
“There’s a good feller” is what he would say
When he talked of the men he admired

I remember those men he talked about
Sure ‘nuff cowboys, tough, but kind
They said what they meant and meant what they said
These men are getting’ harder to find

“There’s a good feller,” meant he was true to his word
That’s all you expect of a man
You knew for sure he was proud to meet you
By the genuine shake of his hand

“There’s a good feller,” meant you could depend
On this man no matter the task
Never got too tough, too cold, or too late
For his help, all you need do is ask

“There’s a good feller,” meant, when he’s down on his luck
He can still hold his head way up high
‘Cause he did his best and gave it his all
He knows with faith and God’s help he’ll get by

“There’s a good feller”, just four little words
And their meaning won’t run all that deep
But when Dad would use ‘em to describe certain men
You knew they were at the top of the heap

“There’s a good feller”, just four little words
But they’ve always been favorites of mine
If after my trails end, my name’s brought up
“There’s a good feller” would suit me just fine

My brother, my friend

Well, Ernie it's been a road travelled.  We shared so many experiences going up and I will treasure each memory.

Way to go that you did it your way and I treasure each moment in life that we have shared and know from my heart that you are among good people now.  You have left behind a legacy that will never again be filled in quite the same way.

Luv U forever, Phyl.

The name Ernie always brings a smile to my face.  My dad (Chuck Weatherdon) worked with Ernie.  I remember Ernie popping into the cottage out of the blue.  He would be in his hat and boots and a smile from ear to ear.  The stories, his love will be cherished.  He's watching from above so he can be everywhere when ever he wants.  You're loved and missed.
