31st March 2024 : Easter Sunday & Sandra’s Birthday

Happy Easter my love - to you and to all our Family in Heaven.
It has been a very enjoyable day … we gave Sandra her Birthday Gifts which she loved!
Later Jeff, David and Darrin came over around 1.00 p.m. for Lunch, and David made a huge cake! It was really good.
We had an Easter Egg Hunt which was fun for all. Lunch was a lot of very nice starters, followed by fried chilli chicken with noodles, along with roast chicken in bread rolls, and a lovely salad. Later we sang Happy Birthday, and enjoyed the cake with ice cream and cream.
David and Darrin have just left to go back for the dogs, Jeff is here watching Dr Who with the family.
I have come up to my room to “chat” with you on your Page.
I am sure Heaven is Celebrating with Great Joy the Resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Well my love - another month has gone past.
I am in Gisborne with the dogs - David and Darrin are in Korea for three weeks. They return on the 24th March. It has been a quiet time - I have done a LOT of Journaling - writing and decorating the pages of my Journals. I find writing and decorating my Journals very Therapeutic. A lot of Kindle reading and watching stuff on my iPad.
Sandra and I had our appointments with the rheumatologist on the 29th February. It was a long drive there … results for both of us were good : nothing major or serious. We are both still in pain and stiffness- this will ease for me with the Vitamin B injections, and for Sandra with exercises and physiotheraphy.
Jeff came up last Sunday and had roast beef, roast poand Yorkshire pudding. I made him potato chops, lentil burgers and mince to take home. We watched a good movie together. It was really so nice to see him.
Sandra wants to come up this weekend- I have told her I am fine, and D&D are back next Sunday. Everyone has been in touch with me daily!!! Including David! He has texted, videoed, sent photos.
Daph and I had a video chat this week and it was good chatting with each other. Jeff has put a lovely photo on your Page of you and Daph when we were in Bali for their 50th Anniversary. Lucas had some exams on this week and also next week.
Isabella often send me emoji hearts texts!
This year Sandra’s Birthday is on Easter Sunday - last year your birthday was on Easter Sunday. I have been checking out restaurants for your Birthday Lunch which will be on Saturday 6th April. We may go back to Digger’s Rest Winery again … it was a really nice place. But I am still hoping to find somewhere else just as nice.
Not sure what Sandra and Sergio will do for Sandra’s Birthday. David asked if I knew - I told him I don’t know.
Daph is trying to arrange something for Dicki’s birthday- she is finding it difficult to find a suitable place.
I have ordered Sandra’s Birthday Gift from Amazon - it will arrive on 24th March (International).
Our Valqui Family and I exchange Easter Eggs - I have to order/buy my Easter Eggs. The boys don’t want Easter Eggs. I sent the 4 grandnieces some Fun Easter stuff from KMart - I asked Roxy and Shane to give the box to the girls for Easter. Shiloh is making her First Communion on the 19th May - Angela will be so happy. We will all attend whatever is being arranged. It is a Special Occasion.
I miss you. When I was scrolling through my iPad two Elvis Presley song came up - “The Wonder of you” and “If I can Dream” which was played at your Funeral. Of course I was in tears. I was OK again … memories will always be there no matter how many years go past. You still “send” me Sunflowers in amazing ways!

Lucas : 14th Birthday

Hello my love
Today 10th November 2023 Lucas celebrated his 14th birthday!! I don’t know where the years have gone. He and Isabella have grown so quickly. There are no longer Birthday Parties for them - just ‘something’ with their friends.

I remember the night he was born - so premature (as we know he was actually due in January) - but with Sandra having pre-eclampsia and being diabetic, her doctor felt the safest option was early delivery. You and I, along with Jeff, David (he flew down immediately), Sergio’s Aunt Rosa and his cousin Chucho - we were all at the hospital - in the waiting area. At long last we were called to go up, and Sergio was waiting for us - we took turns to go in to see Lucas - he was in an incubator and looked so small … we all had our phone cameras on!
When we finally left the hospital, you, David and I on our way to Romsey - the rest of the family going back to their homes - we phoned Angela and went to Atwood first. Angela got so excited seeing the photos of Lucas on our phones. Angela and I both got a bit teary .. we were all so thankful everything worked out safely for mother and baby.
When I look at Lucas now - I am still amazed at the total change in him. It wasn’t gradual over a period of time - it just happened so suddenly … Miracles do happen!!

BTW … you know I had my pneumonia vaccine yesterday - I did rather well … It lasts 10 years - more than enough time for me!

We have returned home dinner at a very nice Mexican Restaurant Watergardens - the staff were so good. Jeff, David and Darrin came - Jeff from across the city with a lot of traffic on Friday night. Jeff and Lucas chatted all evening!!! Lucas got a Marvel Play Station which is the highlight for his birthday.

On a different topic - Charlie is in hospital- he has had two stents put in, with another scheduled in a week’s time. So Sandra and his family are all concerned about him. I sent him a lovely pop-up “Get Well” card which was delivered today.***

I just saw the photo Jeff put in your Page … taken at one of our Parish Dances held in Lancefield Parish Hall … we had so much fun that night! Hilda Caly bought a lot of Indian Snacks which we all enjoyed - even though dinner was catered for the night. All our Prayer Group were there, all dressed up. It was “BYO Drinks” which was shared at our table. We really enjoyed our life in Romsey. We had a lot of fun. It is very good to have these photos toremember our fun retired life.

Well love of my life …. Another month has gone past.

This day last month we were getting ready to leave for our Penang Holiday! These months seem to fly past…. Maybe as I get older the months seem to fly past!!

We had “The Voice Referendum” on Saturday- the results were so disappointing. Delahey and Gisborne were among the disappointing results NO results, but Thornbury was a Good YES Result.

As you already know - I had a couple of doctor’s appointments recently. My legs have been painful and experiencing stiffness. I kept it quiet from our family, but they had already noticed the change in the way I walked, and were concerned. Sandra made the doctor’s appointment for me, and came with me. I have had a blood test done and I am on a high dosage of Vitamin D, also Vitamin B, and I am having 3 injections of Vitamin B. I have had another lot of blood tests and waiting for these results. I will also have a pneumonia vaccine later on. The pain is less and so is the stiffness.. a relief for me, because even getting in and out of a car was not easy for me.
One of the good things from these results is if any of our family find themselves with leg pains or stiffness- they will know there could be a Vitamin B and Vitamin D deficiency and get it checked out, instead of being in pain. Sandra is already having herself checked out.

Prue’s husband Dave celebrated his 60th birthday on the 14th and Prue had a lunch for him. Unfortunately Daphne and Dicki could not attend because Dicki’s shoulder is hurting him. They were all disappointed at missing this family celebration. Daph is still having pains in her shoulder and back.

The renovation in Gisborne are coming along - but what a lot of work involved… and a whole lot more to be done.

That is all my news for now - because I ‘chatted’ quite a bit on my birthday!

84th Birthday

My 84th Birthday today - 11th October 2023!

It was a very good one … I was greeted with decorations hanging from the ceiling which Sergio put up - Sunflowers in a tall vase, and a gift bag with goodies from each grandchild, along with beautiful cards. It was a lovely start to my day. Yesterday I got a chocolate box from Margaret via Amazon. David came at 12.30 to take me to lunch - and he gave me a birthday present of a lovely sunflower yellow carry-on suitcase (my old one has had its day - the wheels don’t turn properly). We really enjoyed our lunch at a Chinese restaurant in Watergardens, followed by coffee, and David took 3 containers of leftovers home.
Sandra and Sergio took us to Nando’s for Surprise Dinner! Nando’s is a favourite for all. It was a lovely dinner and a lot of chatting from our two grandchildren which made a nice change!! It was such an enjoyable a time. I am so full!!! We are all so full!!! Came home for a delicious Chocolate Birthday Cake, which Sergio had picked, Sandra had an “84” candles on the cake - they sang Happy Birthday Nana. We also watched a movie - “Mr & Mrs Smith”.
Jeff phoned and he has put couple of lovely photos on your Page - one with our grandchildren and one with Angela and me - both taken on my 80th birthday. I love his selection of photos. He knows how much these mean to me.
I got a lot of text messages and some phone calls for my Birthday from family and friends. Darrin and Margaret phoned. Well my love … that is my 84th Birthday Celebrations. It was a very good day.
David and I chatted about Family Holidays - and I said in I would like to do a Family Holiday to India {!!!} - The Golden Triangle which takes in Agra (Taj Mahal), Jaipur, Delhi. I have not seen the Taj Mahal. David is always very encouraging about my holiday plans! He said January is a good time for India, also schools are closed for a month, and we could do a 15 to 18 days holiday. So I am looking at January 2025 for a Family India Holiday- that is something I can look forward to planning. The currency will be in our favour.

I know you were watching all my 84th and smiling, along with the rest of our large family in Heaven.

61st Wedding Anniversary - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY ❣️❣️❣️

61st Wedding Anniversary today!

Heaven and Earth joined together ❣️

I waited for today to tell you about our Penang Family Holiday.

It was a good holiday. Our flights outward were on time - there was a driver waiting holding a sign at Penang Airport, and we arrived at our Shangri-la Golden Sands Resort on Sunday 17th September. That day it poured with rain! I looked like a drenched bag lady because David gave me his jacket to wear… but later in the day the Sun same out and it was very warm. The next day and the days after were bright, sunny and hot… We had some rain - but it usually stopped and the sun came through bright and very warm!

Every morning we all enjoyed buffet breakfast - this is so good - we could try out various dishes including congee, roti, dhal, fish curry!!! Along with the standard eggs etc. No pork - Muslim country.

Sandra, Sergio, Lucas and Isabella along with Jeff and myself- went shopping in the morning, while David and Darrin checked out sights in Georgetown.

Food is really cheap to eat out - Jeff and I had an Indian dinner at the night market for about A$7 each!!!

We all took the Resort shuttle service to Georgetown, and David and Darrin went to explore Chinatown, the rest of us got a taxi which drove us around. We saw the Green Mansion which was amazing.

Our Penang Holiday included two Buffet Dinners: International and Penang Specialties. The staff at Garden Cafe were really good - got to know we were a family. They used to let me know that Jeff had breakfast and read his book!

The kids played cards with Jeff, David and Darrin, while Sandra and Sergio enjoyed a dinner on their own - rare treat.

Valqui family enjoyed a banana boat ride. Jeff enjoyed Room Service - actually we all enjoyed Room Service at various times. The kids also enjoyed watching TV with Jeff in his room, and he treated them to room service meals.

David and Darrin enjoyed time on their own, and the two of them along with Jeff saw a couple of movies.

Sandra and Family enjoyed the pool and on one occasion I joined them!! Very impressive ❣️

We enjoyed a Penang Hill Funicular train ride, also Tiffin High Tea.

Isabella celebrated her 12th Birthday - she got money from her uncles. A Top Hat and Bow Tie along with other gifts on her list from her parents, and a box of various gift-items from you and me. Sandra and Sergio treated us to a great lunch at an Italian restaurant in Georgetown.

Next morning we were all up at 3.00 a.m., in our van and to the airport - arriving Tullamarine around 9.00 p.m.

All our pets were fine while we were away.

The Night Markets were fun. Food was cheap to eat at the very many places around the Resort. It was a good family holiday. Good memories.

Well my love - I wanted to write about our Penang Hon your Page on our Anniversary. Maybe some day Lucas and Isabella will read this on your Page and it will bring back memories for them.

Hello my love ... 8 years and 2 months..

Well we are all excited as you can see! We leave for Penang tonight. We meet at the airport around 8.45 p.m. - we fly to Kuala Lumpur. (We spent one of our holidays there. Also that is where you bought me all those chiffon tops - I love them.)

We change flights to Penang. We are booked into Shangri-la Golden Sands Resort - our Reservation includes Buffet Breakfast- something we all enjoy!

Chelsea is the Dog-Sitter who will take care of all 4 dogs in Gisborne.

It is really great we can go on these Family Holidays - good memories for us all especially for Lucas and Isabella. Having beautiful memories are important.

Jeff has put a photo of you and Sandra at her graduation. He always does this for me. Means so much to me. I had a look at the Gallery section.

I will keep your Page uptodate on our Penang Holiday when we return home.

In two weeks we will be in Penang! We are all looking forward to this Family Holiday. All getting excited. We have a stopover in Kuala Lumpur then onto Penang. ❣️❣️❣️❣️
Also exciting news for your Page even though you know already … for my 85th Birthday next year I really wanted a cruise. David looked ‘outside the box’ and found a P&O Cruise leaving from Auckland going to FIJI!!!! Can you imagine - we are going to Fiji - the place we had our first holiday without the children. To celebrate my 85th Birthday next year with a cruise AND Fiji - it is a double whammy. We are staying 3 nights in Auckland. All our cruise cabins booked and deposits paid.
That is me for now - back here in just less than 2 weeks - the day we fly out to Penang!

St.Vincent’s Hospital

Saturday 5th August 2023
It is not any special day - just I am in my bed in Delahey - it is about 8.00 a.m. - Coco is with me .. fast asleep… everyone is in their bedrooms. My thoughts went to the time you were admitted to St. Vincent’s Hospital. It was not the most convenient area for visiting - not like RMH when I could come and go with Sergio. But there were a lot of apartments around St. Vincent’s Hospital which could be booked on a day to day basis … and Jeff told me to book into one of these and he would pay for however long I needed to stay near you. I found one about 10/15 minutes walk from the hospital. The lady was so nice - she was used to this kind of booking.
The first evening you made sure I left well in time to get to the accommodation while it was bright. On my way I passed Woolworths and bought some food for a light night snack - and morning breakfast. I found the building, punched in the code, got my key and went up to the flat. I phoned you immediately to let you know I was fine. We always phoned each other to say “Good Night” and “I love you”…The flat was so convenient for visiting you - I stayed there for a couple of nights - till you were discharged.
Jeff visited as usual, as did Sandra and the children, also Jordan bringing me roast beef sandwiches from Angela! David phoned each day to check on you. Isabella once had on a lovely fluffy jacket in pastel colours and a lady stopped and told her she loved her jacket❣️❣️
I am lying in bed and this memory came up - maybe some of the details are a bit blurred but the actual memory is still with me.
Between 19th January 2015 (your first trip to hospital) and 22nd July 2015 (your Funeral) - we managed a Family Holiday to Bali in March 2015 where we celebrated Sandra’s Birthday- and the Waiting Staff sang “Happy Birthday” to her. Now that is a Good Memory to keep in mind.❣️❣️❣️❣️

Jeff’s 60th Birthday today❣️
Where have the years gone? It would have been so great if you were here with me. I know you are watching from Heaven ….
We were so excited to be having a baby!
I could not wait to get into Maternity Clothes - I had so many made up for me in different colours and styles by the tailors on Elliot Road.
We had a really great cot ready for him - loads of baby clothes… and LOADS of terry towelling nappies. No disposable ones in those days. But we had an ‘ayah’ to wash and dry them. Baby nappies never went to the dhobi… these were washed by his ‘ayah’. These nappies were put on with big special safety pins!
I was in the Private Nursing Home a couple of days early - and my Dad would not come to visit - he said to phone him when the Baby was safely delivered and I was OK. He was so worried in case there was a repeat of what happened to my Mum when I was born.
Jeff was a forceps case - but our Baby was delivered - we were told “It’s a Boy and all is well”. What a Great Day for us!
When we had him Christened - we gave his second name “Patrick” after my Dad, and we had your Dad as his God-father and Norma as his God-mother ….and all are in Heaven with you.
Well my love … that Baby Boy of ours turned 60 years today. We are just as proud today as we were 60 years ago.
He did not want a big party - just Dinner with the family and a movie. So that is how we celebrated. I gave him Birthday Money as he did not want any actual gift. I put his Birthday Money into one of those decorated gift envelopes we bought when we were in Goa. I got him a birthday card that lit up and played Happy Birthday. David helped with the food and also put up the decorations, and he made a delicious Apple Strudel Birthday Cake as requested by Jeff. Sandra and family slept over so we were together Saturday evening till Sunday lunch time. It was a good family time. Darrin could not be with us as he is in NSW looking after Margaret for a few days after her operation which was successful.
Well … our First Born turned 60 years today. Sing Happy Birthday to him… get the rest of our family to join you… :):):)

Getting things ready for your Funeral … 8 years ago today …
We had already been to the undertakers and sorted out all the necessary details. We took your cream coloured suit for you to wear. The music, readings, all the details for your Funeral was sorted out. The Service Booklet was beautifully set out and printed. Yellow Roses arrangement ordered for your coffin. Extra flowers ordered for people to throw into your grave - I did not want soil. Everything was ready for the 22nd July 2015. It is amazing how we were able to sort out all the details even though we were in shock and grief

Hello my love ..
just a quick story - last night I gave our daughter a lot of concern and worry….
As you know when I am in Gisborne I ALWAYS send a “Good Night” message to her - without fail - just as I do for Jeff, and for David when I am at Sandra’s. Last night I made sure their Menulog McDonalds Order had been received etc. and later I was going to send my “Good Night” message, but decided to lie down for a few minutes… and went into a Deep Sleep!! I did not realise that by accident I had put my phone on “mute” … around 11.10 p.m. she text me.. then she phoned me 3 times … she even contacted David in Canberra and Jeff. David was asleep!
Just by chance my sleep broke and I saw her “missed calls” and text messages … I got such a shock to realise how much I had her worried. I quickly text her and explained.. I checked my phone and found it was on “mute” … you can imagine how our daughter was feeling .. she thought about driving down .. Thankfully she did not … Anyway thought I should write this on your Page as a “Story”!!
She said one more incident like this and she is getting me one of those “Alert” things!!!!

The ship to England

Lucas is exploring his family history in class. He was asked to bring in photos of all his grand-parents and share the story behind the photo. We chose a photo of you, Dad, with Jeff as a toddler, on the ship to England. We're still looking for a photo of Mum on the ship.

I told Lucas the story of how you all left behind your life in India to live in England, so that Jeff could have an eye operation there.

Lucas listened. Hopefully he learned something about parenting.

Still missing you so much.

This is such a wonderful collection of photos... taken on the 23rd November 2018.. it was a triple celebration : Daph's birthday, their anniversary, and my farewell... it was such a lovely meal with a very nice waitress... Inn on the Wye ... Prue, Arline and Norman are with us to celebrate... it was a great day and wonderful memories.... We went back to Prue's house for about 15 minutes ... but got back to Lawdley Road because Derek was going to Skype later that afternoon. It is good to be able to look at these photos and remember ..... You were always missed, and we talked about you a lot.... I am so glad I made that UK trip... it took a bit of courage on my part... but I managed it really well.

The trip back I managed literally on my own ... at Heathrow Airport I found the Emirates Counter which was a LONG away into the airport itself... I had a bit of time in Dubai to take a quick look around the shops... and then changed to my flight to Tullamarine... All in all a good trip ... I know you must be very proud of me... and I have got more confidence now. xxxxoooo

This beautiful stained glass window of Sunflowers was in Edinburgh ... I was so amazed when I saw it when Daphne, Dicki and I went for a walk the day we arrived. I saw it from across the road, and the next day I went back and took some photos of this beautiful image close up... really close up! I actually went into the grounds itself, the gate was open and I was able to get right up to the window. I was so thrilled to see the Sunflowers ... I knew that YOU were letting me know that you were with me on this UK holiday... even in Edinburgh! I sent the photos to the children, and of course Jeff made sure it was on your Page. I was waiting for today to write the story of the Sunflower Stained Glass Window in Edinburgh Scotland. Thank you for letting me know that you are always with me. I also saw big Sunflowers decorating the outside of one of the shops in Edinburgh... double confirmation that you are with me. xxxxooooo

Errol my love.... What a BRILLIANT & WONDERFUL way Jeff has put together photos of the Old and New Romsey. What beautiful memories I have of our years together in the Old Romsey. You would have loved the New Romsey because it is so bright. It is easier for me to sell our home because it is completely different... Beautiful but totally different. I think I would have found it heart-breaking to see it go the way it used to be when you and I were there. The Ray White "SALE" sign up went on the front lawn yesterday Saturday 11th November 2017 around 2 p.m. I was there when it was put up... And I knew now this was really happening. Errol my love.... What a BRILLIANT & WONDERFUL way Jeff has put together photos of the Old and New Romsey. What beautiful memories I have of our years together in the Old Romsey. You would have loved the New Romsey because it is so bright. It is easier for me to sell our home because it is completely different... Beautiful but totally different. I think I would have found it heart-breaking to see it go the way it used to be when you and I were there. The Ray White "SALE" sign up went on the front lawn yesterday Saturday 11th November 2017 around 2 p.m. I was there when it was put up... And I knew now this was really happening. Lucas and Isabella wearing their hats and with the faces painted by Sandra ... Sandra also hid a few sweet treats in their rooms and around the play room... and they were given a bag to fill... this is as far as Halloween is done here! Isabella does not like anything 'ghostly' ... so this was just for a bit of fun inside the house... they are not allowed to go 'Trick or Treat' ... A hat, some sweets, a bit of face paint... and they are quite happy with Halloween!

Hello my love... I found a couple of books which have some lovely designs to colour in... I bought a number of these, some to keep in Sunbury and some to keep in Gisborne, along with sets of coloured felt tipped pens and coloured pencils. Some of these books had beautiful drawings of 'Mandalas' which caught my interest, so of course I checked them out.. and basically I learned that the word "Mandala" is from the Sanskrit language meaning "CIRCLE". It represents oneness, wholeness and completion. Hildegard von Bingen, a Christian nun in the 12th century, created mandalas to express her beliefs and feelings. I decided it would be comforting to spend some time each day colouring some of the beautiful designs in the books I bought, but in particular the ones with "Mandala" designs. This is the first one that I did and I sent it to our children.... Jeff put it onto your Page!! So future generations will be able to see my first coloured "Mandala"! Isabella was interested in what I am doing, so I gave her a page (these are perforated so can be easily removed) ... and she did a good work colouring it in... I gave her a gold coin as a reward!! She was very pleased.
I think colouring in the designs in these books will be comforting to me, in particular the "Mandalas" since they mean "Circle" which also means it cannot be broken. Like you and me and our family... in Heaven and on Earth... all within the Eternal Circle of Love. XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXO

I have just written on your Page because it is the 16th of the month... and today makes it 2 years and 3 months... and I wanted to look at the photos again... and here is a one which Jeff has put in ... with all the Towel Decorations... and the Mirror one as well... which Sharlene my Cabin Steward did for our 55th Wedding Anniversary. It was "Dress Up Day" at school.... and Isabella wanted to go as a Ladybug... Sandra and Sergio made the costume together... inclusding the mask!
Jeff has done such a GREAT job of putting her photo onto your Page... I showed it to Isabella and she said "OH! W.O.W.... THAT IS AMAZING"... Sandra and Sergio had big smiles as well! We all loved it!

I love the photo that Jeff added to your Page, and I know you must be smiling at it as well. He is so creative! To put the sketches/blue prints on either side is such a great idea!
It brought back so many memories for me.... when you started planning the shelving system ... you took such great care to measure the various sections. You measured my cd player which I used every morning to play my medication cds. Various heights of my books were then measured... this was pre Kindle!
