ESTHER MARIE GARCIA CARTER, was born 1932. Her parents originally from Puerto Rico came to the US for a better life. Unfortunately, her mother was left here and contracted TB. She was found sick and abandom, shortly she gave birth and passed away. Esther never knew her mother or family!

Esther was raised by a family who was befriended by her parents on the trip to America. They raised Esther up until she was 4 years old, when she was taken away by New York State and placed into the foster care system. She was then placed into foster care with Mr and Mrs Geiger. She and 8 other children was raised by the Geigers. 

At 16 years old, Esther met Charles M. Carter. They fell in love and married when they were both 18 years old. This union produced 6 children and the family lived happily in Queensbridge Projects.  Esther became sickly at a very young age, 32 years old. She contracted a fatal blood disease (to be honest, they really didn't know at that time what was wrong with her). She fought the disease until she succumbed to it on November 12, 1971.

Esther never knew her biological family, so her husband and children were all she had. She loved them all and was an excellent wife and mother. It is so sad that when her husband passed away in 2009, there was not even a mention of her..as if she never existed!

We, the children, of Esther Marie Garcia-Carter remember, miss and love her. She will always, always be a part of our lives..
