Eugene (Gene) R. Gottsacker, of Shawano, passed away in the early morning hours of Tuesday, March 21, 2017. He was 80 years old.

Gene was born in Sheboygan on December 4, 1936, son of Sylvester Gottsacker and Margaret Lueck Gottsacker. At the age of 18 he joined the U.S. Navy Seabees, where he served honorably until his discharge in 1963.

On June 21, 1958, he married Betty Bares at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Holy Cross.

He worked at as a machinist and cabinet maker. He was a jack of all trades. In his free time he enjoyed golf at Shawano Lake Golf Coarse and music especially his harmonica. Gene also did machine repair at Shawano Lake Golf Coarse. He also enjoyed camping and spending time in nature and loved to go to arizona and play golf. He loved people and was willing to help everyone with anything they needed.

Gene is survived by his wife Betty Gottsacker of Shawano, and his 5 sons, Kevin (Beth), Dale (Anna), Tom all of Arizona. Scott (Lori), Jim (Jill) all of Belgium, Wisconsin. His 10 grandchildren; Stephanie (Kurt) Bauer, Tiffany (Mike) Jakubowski, Zach, Nicole (Nathan) Bayer, Logan, Austin, Jesse, Trent, Tazton, and Taylor. His 4 great grandchildren; Damon, Clara, Clark, Bruce and Rylie.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister-in-law Sylvester and Margaret Gottsacker, Sylvester Jr. and Pat Gottsacker.

A Celebration of life and military ceremony will be held on July 15, 2017 at 1:00PM at Shawano Lake Golf Coarse in Shawano, Wisconsin. All family and friends are welcome.
