Mr. Eugene “Daddy” Todd was born March 23, 1924 in Dawson, GA. He was the son of the late Lemon Todd and Kirby Daniel. He departed this life on April 26, 2011 at Lanier Health Services.
Mr. Todd grew up in West Point, GA, where he joined the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church at an early age. He later moved his membership to New Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board and a member of the Sr. Choir. Eugene was currently a member of the Emanuel Chapel CME Church, where he served on the Trustee Board until failing health.
Eugene was married to Leona Boyd, who preceded him in death. Into this union 12 children were born.
He worked for CV Railroad until his retirement. He loved to work around his house, chopping wood, singing and gardening. He also helped to care for his friends and neighbors.
Eugene was preceded in death by two sons, L.C. and Leon Todd, one daughter, Irene T. Williams, one grandson, Oak White; three brothers, Nelson, Eddie and Archie, two sister, Annie Kate Walker and Anna Louis Strickland.
He leaves to cherish his memories: five sons, Willie, Richard, James(Brenda)Todd, West Point, GA; Preston(Marie)Todd, Manchester, GA and Luke Todd, New Albany, IN; four loving daughters, Ruby Todd, Mirrion(Greg)Meriwether, Louisville, KY, Juanita T. Lynch, Lanett, AL and Brenda T. Huguley, Valley, AL; one brother, Billy(Viola) Hanner, LaGrange, GA; 39 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Special grandchildren and caregivers, Erica Todd and Jonus t. McFarlin; four special family friends, Sammy Baker, Rev. and Mrs. Juhan and David Carr.
