A tribute to my senior Lady Eugenia. I interacted with Eugenia closely since 2016 at the Union Office when she cleared and signed our benevolent loans. She followed Financial Rules to the point and observing timely disbursements. I joined her in the Union after a whole. She was a hard working, straightforward, firm, courageous, confident, alert, loving and with contagious laughter.
I will miss senior Eugenia – quiet advises whenever requested for and she also used strong word like stop finishing with Swahili word wacha! wacha! as a sign of warning.
6th March 2020, a surprise birthday song moved towards her dinner table, drumming the Kenyan way with dancers with a white Forest Cake written “happy birthday Eugenia” to celebrate a life well lived. Little did I know that was her last dance with her Council colleagues.
Eugenia, far away you are gone yet too close to our hearts. May the road rise up to meet you, may the rains fall softly upon your field and may God hold you in the palm of His hands.
For De Guzman family, you were blessed with a hard working and loving Mama cherish the life she gave and every moment you shared together.
