Eunice was born November 6, 1923 in rural Wilson County, NC to Nancy Elizabeth Gordon & Jurdan William Howell. Sometime later in her youth the family moved to Johnston County, NC for a time until settling in an area of Harnett County, specifically the area known as Bunnlevel, NC. There the family farm was used to grow tobacco, and many happy times were had.
