This is the first I saw of this site. I think of Eva so often. It's been years since we had seen each other but I can still hear her laugh and see her smile.. One of the very first people I became friends with at Golden Nugget, a complete pleasure to know and work with. Eva is one never to be forgotten.

With every beat of my heart memories of you flood my sole and fill me with love. I’ll spend today celebrating your birthday, but in reality I’ll be just passing the time remembering you and all the wonderful times we had together. I miss you so very much my love. Happy Birthday.

Eva was such a bright spirit and wonderful to work with. Don't remember ever seeing her without a smile on her face. My heartfelt sympathies to her family and close friends. Until we meet again she will be in excellent company!

Jerry. Please accept my sincere condolences for your enormous loss. Whenever a beautiful soul passes, fond memories flow. Eva was such a treasure...a "foxhole guy". She was easy going, amiable, kind and put others first, but in the pinch, had a gritty, tough, courage that was so admirable. Am quite sure of the 560 or so views, on this wonderful tribute page to date...there will be many tears..., followed by some smiles, and finally a nod as friends and family agree... what a "good egg", Yo Eva, Love you.. Rest in Peace!!

Although I only met her one time, I talked to her numberous times on the phone and I remember her laughing with me and rick over the phone. Her giving me advice on pregnancy and being a typical mom. I remember when Rick told her we were pregnant lol. He got lectured and I got to hear it all. I just remember thinking I’m going to like her. I got to go to Vegas with rick and meet her and Jerry for the first time and although shy, I knew I was going to fit in; and I’m not a fan of parents. Never got along with them. I found out mom likes all things country like me, and we liked a lot of the same artists. I have nothing but good things to say about mom. She had a heart of gold and although sick herself always found time to call and check up on me and rick. She cared about rick so much sometimes it seemed more then herself: I could tell she had nothing but love and respect for him! She was a good lady. And if I had known that the one time I met her was going to be the last time I got to see or really talk to her, I probably would have stayed a little longer and talked a little more, gotten more stories on the wonderful man she raised! She must have been a wonderful mother to raise such a unique and amazing son. Rest In Peace mom ur in a better place and u are happy I’m sure and pain free and we can all be thankful for that even though u are greatly missed. Madison Eva Knehr will get to know all about her loving and amazing grandma. Her dad will surely have lots of stories to tell her as she grows up. We love u mom

I worked with Eva for years, she was one of my favorite people. We would have heart to hearts right in the pit. When I met my husband he would come in to see me and she’d talk Polish to him. I cried when she decided to move to Vegas. And was afraid to fly so she was driving. We had the most epic farewell party ever for Eva because We All Loved her and didn’t what her to leave. Eva Las Vegas tears because this time we don’t have a second chance to see you again

Jerry, I can't even begin to sense the pain and loss you are going through. Eva was so amazing. She touched so many lives in such a way that no one could ever forget her, or even want to. She was a great person and so much fun to work with. I can still see her smile and hear her laughter. What a blast we had in the craps pit and what a helluva going away party when she left for Vegas. Forever will she live on in so many lives.

The loss of a friend is always traumatic and leaves behind scars and bruised hearts that only time can heal. We make a lot of friends throughout our lives but only a few ever become close to us. Some lose touch while others take up a different path. Friends are not only our companions in oy but also a great support it rimes when needed. There simply aren't any words to express my heartache over the loss of my very best friend of forty years. We have so many good memories. You meant so very much to me, Eva. You are forever in my heart and will be with me until we meet again. Jerry was an absolute SAINT, who took such good care of Eva during her illness. Thank you, Jerry. I love you, Eva; RIP.

I’ll forever cherish the fond memories I have of Eve... From the late nights in the Taj Poker Room where she’d wait (playing a little Video Poker in between) for Jerry as we played saying, “just one more hand”, to the fun get togethers in Vegas, eating, drinking coffee, smoking, and good laughs and conversation... “Yo Dude!” (that’s what we called each other), you left us much too soon, but you fought em’ all the way... We Love and will Miss You Eve, until we meet again, Rest In Peace Dude... I can just hear her saying, “whatever”, that was Eve...

Jerry, Sorry for your loss.
Eva was a class act. She treated everyone with respect and dignity.
She was a joy to be around.
I was privileged to know her and call her friend.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and her entire family.

Yo Eva so many fun times, standing between pits til the bosses showed up, pajama dinners with you and Jerry, Brian, Liz, at Terry & Ernie’s, and nothing beats the laughing fits we had at Hash House A GoGo, etc. I will hear your laugh forever my friend!

This is the first I saw of this site. I think of Eva so often. It's been years since we had seen each other but I can still hear her laugh and see her smile.. One of the very first people I became friends with at Golden Nugget, a complete pleasure to know and work with. Eva is one never to be forgotten.
her Life
Eva was born in England to Leon and Zofia Rozek. In the early 50s they moved to Edison New Jersey where she grew up. She graduated St. Mary's high school in the early 60s. Sometime after that she married and divorced John Knehr with whom she had a son her beloved Richard Knehr. I'll leave any further details of her life in the 50s,60s,70s and early 80s to the family and friends who knew her best during that time.
When I met Eva in the late 80s she was working as a pit manager at the Atlantic City Golden Nugget/Bally's Grand Casino. She had a wonderful work family of co-workers most of whom she kept in contact with over the passing years.
In 1999 we relocated to Vegas. Eva transferred to Bally's Paris Casino where she acquired a new work family and friends. Eva continued her employment with the company as a casino supervisor, ACM and Table Games Tournament Director until her retirement in 2015.
In her leisure time Eva loved to read some of her favorite authors were Harlan Coben, James Patterson, Steven King and James Clavell. She also loved in no particular order; Bowling, Bingo and Video Poker.

From a very old friend!

Shared by Christine Haemmerle on April 9, 2021
  1. I was saddened to hear of Eva's passing. I have been Eva's friend since we were 4 years old as immigrants coming to the US. We went to school together, played together, whether it was birthday parties, vacationing together, going to Polish Camp together. She was in my wedding party. And the birth of my children and her son.I have so many happy memories of her and our friendship. I lost track of her over the years especially when she moved to Las Vegas but she was always in my thoughts. Recently I tried to reconnect but we spoke for only a short time with promises to talk again. Well that never happened. I guess life got in the way. Rest now, my dear old friend, in God's arms. I love you Eva. My sympathy to Jerry her husband, which unfortunately, never met and her brothers, and the rest of the family. I am including some old pictures. Christine from NJ.

The most perfect night

Shared by Jerry Benetatos on April 7, 2021
It was a warm summer night in Atlantic City at Bally's Grand Amphitheater. There was a very calm breeze as we sat in the bleachers center stage holding hands like two kids listening to Kenny G.  Eva often referred to that night in 1991 as the "The most perfect night!" It was for me too.

I’ll surely miss my great friend Eva of 41 years. She was the best and was loved by everyone. We had such good times at the Tuscany. Lynne and I loved our trips to Vegas to share laughs with Eva. Keep them on their toes in heaven! Love you always!
