The Care Of A Believing Woman

September 16, 2016

In 1 Timothy 5:16, the apostle Paul gave the following instruction concerning the care of widows: "If any believing woman has relatives who are widows let her care for them."  Over the past few years, my wife and I have received the undeserved honor of witnessing the fulfillment of this instruction in the household of Keith and Lori Hawkins. The way in which Lori cared for her mother until she went home to the care of Jesus revealed the faith that is not assumed but is rather passed down from generation to generation by the grace of God. With this reason, I am certain that even in this moment of grief and loss for the entire Hawkins' household there is greater cause to rejoice. | Gary Rivers
