It was a joy sharing music with Evelyn through music. You were a trooper Evelyn. You sang not long after you had a tracheotomy. And you even sang Jesus Loves Me in Hungarian!

I visit The Plaza with my little dog, Sadie, and always enjoyed visiting with Evelyn and Sheila. Evelyn always had a special way of being so positive and expressing love for those she cared about. Sadie and Evelyn had a very special relationship and Sadie would get in Evelyn's bed and visit with her. Sadie went to see Evelyn right towards the end and laid down in her hospital bed. Evelyn whispered, "I love you, Sadie." Evelyn will be forever missed by so many, even little Sadie. Our thoughts and prayers are with Sheila and her family as Christmas draws near:)

I met Ms. Evelyn at The Plaza in Richardson where I go everyday to feed my mother who is a resident. I loved her beautiful smile and kind words she always had. There were times when Sheila was tied up with something and I tried to help her get to her room; she would politely refuse my help because she thought I needed to devote all my time to my mother. I had to convince her that I enjoyed being with her also and it was okay. What a great human being we have lost! Although we miss her a lot, I am grateful because she is not suffering any more and is with Our Lord. My prayers are for her family, Sheila, her brother, Geegee and the rest. May God bless them and help them get through this pain. Rest in Peace, Ms. Evelyn.

My name is Kerry Gipson. Upon my employment at The Plaza in Richardson, I developed a personal connection with Mrs. Evelyn Thorn and Family, as well as the other residents of The Plaza community. I have a great passion for helping others and creating a longevity of life through positive health, wellness, and therapeutic needs. Mrs. Thorn was one of my most improved residents there at The Plaza and her desire, free spirit, and religious mind set ensured that she's remembered by all that knew her. Mrs. Thorn was a huge encouragement to me and I loved her like my very own. I know there's a place reserved for her in the Kingdom of heaven and her smile, warm hugs, and enthusiastic personality will most definitely be miss by many... May God bless Mrs. Evelyn Thorn (MOM) and the Thorn family. I love you all. Always keep your focus on The Lord.

I met Evelyn a few years ago when she live at Hilltop Haven in Gunter, TX. As the Ombudsman, I had the opportunity to visit with hundreds of residents through the years, and Evelyn was one of my favorites, She always had a smile and sweet disposition no matter her difficulties. One of my favorite memories of her was a time when I had taken another resident to the movies. Since she was unable to go with us, we brought her a huge box of popcorn back and she was thrilled. The three of us enjoyed the camaraderie of telling of the movie we had seen with her. She was such a delight to be around and will be missed.
