This memorial website was created by the NIGERIAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION in memory of our beloved, late Dr. Evelyn Eshikena, 56 years old, born on May 26, 1966, and passed away on November 21, 2022. She was a past President of the Nigerian Dental Association with very notable achievements in the advancement of the Dental profession. Her demise came as a rude shock to everyone. We are consoled by the fact that she lived a fulfilled and impactful life.
We will remember and miss her forever.

This is indeed a very rude shock. Dr. Mrs Eshikena was my family dentist before she even moved from fagba shopping complex to pen cinema. She was the one who first told me about "wisdom teeth" and she is usually the first name that props up whenever anyone has a dental issue, and we would always want to be attended to specifically by her, and not just her"staff".
Death is inevitable, but this was TOO SOON!
This is a huge loss to so many people in Nigeria.
What an extremely hardworking and humble fellow she was!
Rest in the Lord's bossom, and may affliction never arise a second time in your family in Jesus'name, amen.

Evelyn, I still can't wrap my head around it that you are no more. I got the news of your demise through your daughter Marilyn.
Our paths first crossed at UNIBEN when we were in the same hostel - Hall 1 in the late 80s. We later became friends when we met again at Little Scholars now Scholars' Creche at Omole Phase 1 then where we both enrolled our first children in playgroup and discovered that we were leaving in the same area- Oko Oba/Iju axis. I recollect how you used to pick them from school when they were in primary school. Our girls became best of friends through primary, secondary, upper six as both attended the same schools till University seperated them but are still friends till date. As fate will have it, your family moved to your personal house in Otun- Akute axis and we also relocated to Olambe in the same area back then.
I never thought I would be writing this tribute at this time. I remember the last time I called you how we chatted about so many things with lots of love and fun.
You were such an amiable, loving, tenacious, goal getter.
One thing I can never forget about you is your discipline on timeliness/punctuality.
Your acts of service to humanity will forever live on. You impacted the lives of so many both young and old.
May your soul rest peacefully with your maker.
May the almighty God comfort your husband, children and all your loved ones.
Adieu Evelyn till we meet at the feet of Jesus on the resurrection morning.

I had the pleasure of working very closely with Dr Evelyn Eshikena as part of the NDA Exco, and I feel privileged to have known her. She was so delightful, very dedicated and essentially a woman of honour. She held her grounds in defence of justice and equity and would never yield to any pressures that were contrary to her firm beliefs. She was an amazing leader and a wonderful person when you got to know her personally. It is such a rude shock to hear about your demise, but God knows best. Rest in the bosom of the Lord, Dr. Eshikena.

The news of the demise of Dr Evelyn Eshikena was received with great shock.
It's really like a bad dream
Or what else can one call this news about someone with whom I enjoyed a conference fews days before, in good health, full of life and beaming with smiles?
And the next moment snatched away by death in the prime of life!
She was not well known, to me, before her emergence as NDA President but thereafter, her exploits to better position the association, the love for and dedication to NDA, the grace and poise she had to carry out her duty and other positive things made her to become very popular.

Becoming closer to her later, I saw Dr Eshikena as being Amiable and Approachable , quite Friendly and Forthright.

God knows why you had to go now . We are comforted by the fact that we know you are in a better place.
I pray God comforts all the people you left behind, Amen.

Adieu Evelyn Omoshibo ESHIKENA

Evelyn, we first met as undergrads at University and reconnected at NDA Lagos. There was always this warmth about you and your constant smile had a radiance to it. In life you had a drive that made you perform with excellence. And the legacy is there for all to see.
Did not occur to me that my call to you the week before you died was the last we would speak. You told me of your upcoming trip, so what happened because you were full of life as we chatted. So sad.
I thank God for bringing you into my life.
You were a good friend. Good night.

Aunty, Words Fail me!
Never would I have thought the dance in Abuja would be our last.
Since we cannot question God, I thank Him for the opportunity of getting to know you and get close to you and your family. I thank God for the lessons I learnt from you. I thank Him for the Support I continually received from you.
We will miss you greatly.
May our Lord Jesus Grant you eternal Rest in His Bosom.
May He grant your family the fortitude to bear your absence. Amen.

What can one say? Really speechless .

You were like a candle in the wind, you brighten everyone and your surroundings and then suddenly disappeared.

You brought meaning and life to NDA.
My interest and commitment to NDA grew because of the passion you exhibited.

Rest on my dear President.

We will miss you, but we know you're in a better place.

Adieu!

What words can I use to qualify this jovial, humble and a loving person. You were just an epitome of a saint, a nice person. I can recall all my experiences at our Dental conferences, ever with charming smiles. You could flow in the midst of the junior, senior and your colleagues very well, a sign of humility.

Dr. Evelyn was a rare gem. Very amiable, soft spoken and a real amazon. Your death news came to me as a shock but I take consolation in the fact that you lived your life well as attested to by all that passed through you. It is heartbreaking and unbelievable to learn of the demise of our former President, Dr. Evelyn Omoshibo Eshikena, who was with us, earlier this month, at the last AGM of the Nigerian Dental Association in Abuja. This is a terrible loss to the Eshikena family, the Nigerian Dental Association, our country Nigeria, and the global Dental community. I pray that God will grant the family and the entire dental community the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss. We should take solace in the fact that she made positive, indelible contributions and impacted many lives during her brief sojourn. She was an embodiment of dedication, commitment and selflessness. May her gentle soul continue to rest in perfect peace. Professor Eyitope Ogunbodede, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.

Continue to rest in the bossom of your maker, Lord God. Amen

Our beautiful amiable big sister and leader Dr Evelyn Eshikena, it's really still so difficult to believe you have just stepped over to eternity. Too many unanswered questions. Thank God, all things are bare before his eyes, for in all things we give him thanks.
Just like yesterday in the NDA AGM Abuja, I had the privilege of knowing you a little more closely. As you joyfully and as usual, humbly, explained without reservation all my queries bordering on our profession.
I recall how you stated, that the lord led u in some of your personal decisions many years back and everything turned out right. Oh!, how it comforts me now to know you new the lord personally enough to know his voice. So, this is indeed is my confidence, that u sleep and shall surely awake when the trumpet shall be sounded, even as the scriptures has assured us .
You brought life and light to the entire NDA Nigeria through your vibrancy and all embracing approach. Your humility and warmth, made everyone feel at home again in the NDA Family.
The lost zest and zeal for NDA, returned with u. It was a positive paradigm shift for us as a body.
Indeed, you were called to achieve, and achieve, you have, this can never be denied.
This is my prayer, that as you delight yourself in the father's bosom, he will, heal the gullies of pain in the heart of all your beloveth: your hearthrob, the children, extended families, NDA Nigeria, so many lives too numerous to mention.
Sleep on, dear sister, sleep on great leader, in d arms of him who loves you the most.
Adieu Dr Evelyn Eshikena.

Dr. Eshikena, is the epitome of humility, grace, and strength. A woman much to be remembered for her doggedness and resilience. It seems so surreal that you are no more in this physical body. Earth loss is indeed heaven's gain.

Dear Dr Evelyn,

Your death came as a very rude shock.
You were a shining light, hardworking, and inspiring and brought great visibility to the NDA.

When you became the Head of the Health Sector of Lagos state branch of NNEW, you encouraged me to attend the September to Remember event only 2 months ago. Not only was it impactful, the way you organized it made it an unforgettable experience, and indeed a September to Remember.

I never knew that would be our last physical contact. Adieu my dear sister. I pray that God will comfort your darling husband and children, NDA and NNEW family.

You fought a good fight. May your soul rest in perfect peace.

Words are inadequate to express the shock and devastation that greeted the news of your sudden departure. I cannot believe that the lovely moments we spent together gisting at the roof top bar of Royal Choice Inn, Abuja during NDA AGM was to say goodbye to your earthly sojourn. You were such an adorable angel who meant well and gave your best to whatever cause or person in whom you believed. You left indelible marks in the minds and sands of time. The vacuum left with your sudden departure will be very difficult to obliterate. All I can just say is that our heavenly father grant eternal rest to your great and gentle soul and that the almighty God grant your darling husband, entire family, NDA and all other groups and associations to which you belonged the fortitude to bear this great loss. Adieu Dr Evelyn Eshikena!

Your death came to the Dental Family like a rude shock.

A few hours prior, you were there in Abuja at the NDA Conference, dancing, relating, rejoicing and happy.

Who would have thought those were your goodbye moments

You helped us formulate the Dream of a New NDA.

You led us in putting NDA in the front burner of National discourse.

You led us in putting NDA on the Global Stage.

Yet, you did not wait to witness the full manifestations of your efforts

You left us sad. You left us to soldier on, alone without you

Adieu Dr Evelyn!

May the angels lead your to a perfect place in the bosom of the Lord

May your memories stay in our hearts forever

Sleep well and sleep on!

Good night Dear President!

A rare gem, very thorough and strict. You were always giving me listening ears whenever I needed your attention and I appreciate the relationship. I recall how you sent funds to me when my salary was stopped during residency and how you would send milk to my daughter. Your last call was to ask for my room number during our AGM in Abuja and you brought souvenirs from your mother-in-law's burial to me. You were full of praises for my tenure as President you encouraged me to forge ahead when I told you I needed to rest and retire from NDA politics! How I would enter your clinic to finish the implant cases I started without you is a major problem for me....
You will be sorely missed!
Rest on dear Dr Omoshibo Eshikena, may God console your family and shine his perpetual light on you,Amen
Adieu!!!

It's so hard and painful to hear of sudden demise of dearly beloved and amiable Dr. Eshikena, especially for those who attended recently concluded NDA conference at Abuja where she featured prominently as usual. Brevity of life indeed
It was a great delight working with her on NDA National Exco under Dr. Orebanjo. She's such a passionate full time private dental practitioner with unique interests in professional associations and activities. An exemplary leader, friendly, ever cheerful with excellent team spirit.
