Grandma Soetan!

I am so glad that it pleased God for you to live for as long as you did
I’m grateful to God for allowing us to meet as it is always important to gain knowledge from the older generation. The little time we had spent together you showed love and care and I’m grateful to have witnessed those two special things from you!

Love you always

I cried when I heard that my Big Mummy is gone. In fact, my Grandma. You are such a wonderful and selfless person. You taught me so many valuable lessons when we stayed together, especially when I stayed with you in your house at Ogba. Memory of my last visit in December 2020 is still fresh in my mind and all that you told me. The only solace I have now is that I am sure that you are in Heaven with our God. Rest on Grandma.

Dear Mum,
You came, you saw and you conquered.
You left your mark and touched many lives positively as I am a beneficiary.
It was when I was in Mama’s house at Modigbo Street that I got and started my first job, and also later changed to the second job. Wole, Bola and I were together then under her tutelage. She was very pleasant, strict, honest, always spoke her mind, and never liked lies. She was really a disciplinarian and never tolerated nonsense. She taught me the benefit of eating beans as we always ate beans regularly when I was with her.She was full of wisdom and advice and very caring. She never lacked behind in her service to the LORD. May her Labour never be in vain.
My Mum was close to her and very fond of her as Mama was always there for her, very supportive. My wife also loved her and had great respect for her.
Mama, we will surely miss you but your good legacy lives on. May her soul rest in perfect peace in the bosom of the LORD.

Mummy Mushin,
As many of us used to call her in her absence, we missed you but we are comforted that we shall see on the last day. May you Rest In Peace.

Many things have been said about late Mama Felicia Ajoke SOETAN (Sept 12, 1937 - March 8,2021) and many more would still be said. During her 80th birthday in September 2017, words such as Nurse pae excellence, life saver, very devoted, hard working, caring and loving mother were freely used to eulogies her. I say the most amazing grandmother anyone could wish for, what more do I need to add.
Whenever I greeted her, I vividly remember her response "Omo mi, sə alafia ni, Toyin nko" (Toyin is my wife) and that made me feel good.
Mama is a very devoted Christian always attending programmes like Otoge, (enough is enough) revivals and many others until old age sets in.
Good night Mama Folami, may your soul find peace and rest in the bosom of your creator. And may your passage on Mother earth never to be forgotten.
MR & Mrs FALEYE.

Mummy I never knew I wouldn't see you again, I had always looked forward to the day I will see you again,I love you so much, thank you for loving me so much with all my flaws, no matter how late I got to your home from work, you always made sure I ate, I cherish the days we ate together from the same plate, I never lacked anything with you,, mummy I have never had such love you gave me again after I left, all the days I haven't seen you I missed you beyond words, my children never met you but they know how loving you were, my tears would not cease as I write this because I never knew I wouldn't see you ever again, but your memories lives in me, that is the memories I have carried all this years, I love you mum and I will miss you greatly, rest on in the bossom of our Lord.

I thank God for big mummy’s life
I remember fondly when big mummy came to collect me and my 3 siblings from Murutala Airport in 1977 which was the first time we had step foot on Nigerian soil from London. She came and collected us in her red beetle. It was a hot evening, and we were thousands of miles away from our land of our birth.
I thank God for the time she cared for us while our mother stayed in London.
I thank God I managed to see her a few more times when I returned to London over 40 years ago. I came to Nigeria a few times since returning to London and managed to see big mummy when I came to visit my now late father with which she came to his burial in 2010 .
I thank God that I managed to speak to big mummy on the phone over the last few years and remember her happy voice and her saying I love you I love you . May her dear soul rest in perfect peace at the right hand side of God.
I shall treasure the memories that I have of our dear big mummy.
In my heart and never forgotten.
You will be dearly missed.
Rest big mummy rest on the right hand side of God
Love from you niece

Mummy Soetan is gone. Sisi Oyinbo as my father and his siblings called her in appreciation of her fair skin. She had inherited it from her mother. She was a mother to me having being there since I was born. Her living on Omodigbo Street which was so close to us also made it a necessity to see her often. Also as the official errand boy of my mother ensured I was the one to deliver messages to her quite often. But with a glad heart I ran the errands to her house. She was always of such a cheerful disposition and then you were sure to receive a cold soft drink from her. A word on or two of prayer was always in the mix as well. Her being from Abule Onifade which was the next one to Abule Akoni in Itoki ensured sharing many family engagements. Then we attended the same Church and belonged to the same society. Hers being the female wing. In all numerous interactions with her, never for once did I hear a word said out in anger nor a disposition different from pleasant. She was ever smiling. She bore life's travails when they did come with christian equanimity and thanks to God, she surmounted all to the glory of God.

Aunty, you have gone to rest in a better place but your virtues of love for the next man, love and spread of the Gospel of Christ your Reedemer are.left with your children and those that had the opportunity to crossed paths with you in your life journey.

Adieu Aunty. Take thy rest in the bosom of your Saviour who you were not scared to proclaim his name and his mission. Sleep well beloved.
