One Year In Mind

     Time speeds on, one year has passed
 Gone is the face we loved so dear,

Silent is the voice we loved to hear;
Too far away for sight or speech,
But not too far for thought to reach,
Sweet to remember him who once was here,
And who, though absent, is just as dear.

Nothing can ever take away
The love a heart holds dear,
Fond memories linger every day,
Remembrance keeps him near.

He had a nature you could not help loving
And a heart that was purer than gold
And to those who knew him and loved him
His memory will never grow cold.

He bade no one a last farewell,
He said good-bye to none;
The heavenly gates were opened wide,
A loving voice said, "Come".

Late Mr. Felix Afamefune Johnson Nkadi fondly referred to as FJ, was born on the 19th of October, 1932 in Lagos State by Late Diokpa Johnson Nkadi and Late Mrs. Catherine Ngbocha Nkadi both from Ogwashi-Ukwu, Delta State, Nigeria. He grew up with his two Sisters (Mrs. Veronica Okonkwo and Josephine Nkadi) and had his early education in Holy Cross Primary School, Lagos Island, Edward Blyden Memorial School, Lagos and Fourah Bay College University, Freetown, Sierra Leone.

He started his work career with Royal Exchange Assurance Nigeria Plc as office boy then climbed by the ladder to insurance clerk. He proceeded to the United Kingdom in 1967 for Professional courses in Insurance, sponsored by REAN Plc. He came back to Nigeria after the civil war in 1971.
His rose to the pinnacle of his career working in major Nigeria cities; Lagos, Aba, Onitsha. He was a Pioneer Manager for Benin City and Area Manager for then Bendel State before he retired.

He met his Wife, Mrs Josephine, Ada Nkadi in 1963 in Ogwashi-Ukwu. They later got married and were blessed with Nine (9) Children.

He was a devoted Roman Catholic Christian, who puts God first in anything that he does. He was an incorruptible disciplinarian who lived an exemplary life. He cherished honesty over glamour and self respect over any other thing.

He was an upright and noble gentleman who loves his family and likes extending his kind gesture to people around him. He was a cheerful giver who often wears great smiles on his face. He never compromised in the up bringing of his children Educationally, Spiritually, Morally and Socially.  There was never a dull moment having him as a company.

No matter the situation he always had a positive attitude. He was a role model to so many people. He single handedly trained his Nine (9) children through the university and  also supported in training of some extended relatives. He reminded his married daughters the side effect of becoming a liability to their husband when they are not contributing financially in the affairs of their families and his sons to always be responsible in all their dealings.

He was a humble man; he never liked to be the center of attention. In life and now in death, he wouldn't want us to focus on him. He wouldn't want us to focus on the sadness of his death, but instead focus on the happiness in our lives. He would want us to appreciate each other and our future

He will indeed be missed and remembered by those who knew him and loved him, but Job Chapter 1 Vs 21 Said “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.”

Adieu FJ.
Goodbye Kedu.
Fairwell Akataka Ngbo.
Rest in Peace, Diokpa Felix Afamefuna Johnson Nkadi.

We will surely meet again to part no more.

It’s so hard 2 say gudbye but d inevitable price “death” dat we all have 2 pay, has left us wit no option but 2 say, Adieu. Dad, I saw u in my dream, telling me dat u’re not dead but alive. I know u meant Life after death. “Count it all Joy when u fall into divers temptations”. I’m trying 2 count ur departure all Joy. It isn’t easy cos there’re lots of gud memories. RIP my Noble Gentleman. IJN
