His Life

HIS EARLY YEARS

Pa Festus Adeniran Oladosu was born into the family of Aladie of Alapini compound, Ogbogbo, Saki, Oyo state, Nigeria, on February 8th, 1936. His father’s name was Pa David Adebisi Oladosu and his mother’s name was Madam Wuraola Oladosu.

During his childhood age, Pa Festus Adeniran Oladosu received much love, care and pampering from his mother, so much that one of his sisters had to take him with her to Oyo where she lived, away from his mother’s comfort and luxury in order for him have formal education. He grew up in a secured and happy household, little wonder that he was both loving and laudable.

HIS EDUCATION

Festus Adeniran Oladosu left Saki in 1945 to join Baba Ajibade Adedokun’s, Uncle, late Mr. Julius Oluokun Alabi serving teacher at Arole Oba Alapini Oyo.

He began his elementary Education at L. A. Primary School, Idi Ope, Oyo in the year 1946. From 1946 – 1947 he attended Primary one and Primary Two at Idi Ope, Oyo, before he proceeded to Native Authority School, Durbar, Oyo – Standard 1 from 1947 – 1948. He followed late Alabi Julius Oluokun, the Headmaster to Kisi between 1948 – 1952 together with Baba Ajibade Adedokun.

Hence, in December 1952, he returned to Oyo with late Mr. Julius Oluokun Alabi. As earlier stated, Pa Festus Adeniran Oladosu later joined Native Authority School, Oyo to continue his Education. He also travelled to Ibadan to join his Uncle who was a traditional practitioner, from Ibadan, he travelled to Igbogila in Abeokuta in year 1955 to join his late Father. They spend some years at Igbogila in Abeokuta before his Father later died and was buried in Ibadan.

After the death of his father, he moved back to Oyo to continue his Education at Native Authority Primary School, Durbar, Oyo, Oyo state, Nigeria.

A LIFE OF DISCIPLINE AND HARDWORK

Pa Festus Adeniran Oladosu started his teaching career at Primary School, Tewure near Ikoyi – Ile in the year 1956. From Tewure, Ikoyi-Ile as a teacher, he was later posted to Day Secondary School, Ago – Are. While at Ago Are as a teacher, at this juncture he met his friend Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleoso who introduced him to join Sanitary Overseer (wole-wole). He became a sanitary officer on 1st January, 1966.

He got married to late Mrs. Esther Mopelola Oladosu fromo Onibonoje Compound, Isale Abudu Saki and the marriage was blessed with children and Grand Children.

Pa Festus Adeniran Oladosu got admitted into the School of Hygiene, Eleyele, Ibadan and was awarded Public Health Inspector in year 1972. He served in various communities as Health Officer in Saki Ile-Ife, Ibadan, Tede among others. Cvfrt exdbQ QBaba rose to the post of Chief Environmental Health Technologist before he finally retired from active service in year 2000.

Baba had a lot of friends because he was very accommodating. He joined active politics after he left the Civil Service. He became a member of Alliance of Democracy (A.D), Afenifere. He was appointed as a member of Rent Court by the former Governor of Oyo State, late Alhaji Lam Adesina on 10th February 2000. He was also conferred with justice of peace (J.P) by the same late Alhaji Lam Adesina’s government in 2000.

Baba also has the privilege of going on Holy Pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Jerusalem in year 2001.

CHRISTIAN LIFE

Baba was a member of Otun Baptist Church, Saki. He was a devoted Christian who attended church regularly before he died. As a member of Otun Baptist Church, Saki, he belonged to different societies in the church such as Itesiwaju Society, a grand patron of Ireti Ogo Society. He was also one of the grand patrons of the Royal Ambassador (RA) of the Nigerian Baptist Convention. He demonstrated his love for the Lord by faithfully paying his tithes and regularly taking care of the needy within the communities. Baba never took these things lightly because he believed all blessings flowed from the Lord and giving to God was a way of appreciating him.

He was a very consistent and devoted Christian till he died, and he held tenaciously the principles and tenets of Jesus Christ. Pa Festus Adeniran Oladosu was also a loving person in the community, and many can testify to this exemplary character. He was a very disciplined and hardworking man who was also a role model for many people in the community because of his life of integrity and uprightness. His principles of truthfulness, honesty, cleanliness and sincerity, made him stood out within the community.

He lived a life of total fulfilment; he besought the Almighty God to be able to carry his cross and to endow him with the blessing and the grace of good health to live, to witness and enjoy. God’s enduring grace granted him not only the long life but also where all to see as children through educationally and morally to enviable positions in life.

SOCIAL LIFE EXCELLENCE

Pa Festus Adeniran Oladosu came to the world effectively, he grew up loving the people around him, he lived humbly and freely associated with people without discrimination and served wholeheartedly. Baba displayed anthropically one great lesson learnt from his life and death is testimony to the belief that world is not our home, we are just passing bye.

Baba is an historian. He was a father to many who were not his biological children. Many people saw him as their father even when he was not their biological father all because of his involvement in their lives. He used his talent to touch a lot of people’s lives. Until his death, Pa Festus maintained a caring, loving and peace-loving father in the community.
