I never met you but I feel I knew you so well. And I guess I did, through your lovely granddaughter. She came to commiserate with me over the death of my father and left my place for your house. That day we discussed in great detail what an amazing, exceptional woman you are and how blessed DG Aishah was to have you as a grandmother. Little did we know you would soon be going home. But you live on, through your legacies, your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. You finished your race well and strong and have passed on the baton. I remember as a young inquisitive 7 year old girl, you allowing me visit with you, the hospital you ran alongside Big daddy, of blessed memory, at 32 Agege motor road where we lived. 

Despite my tender age, I saw how stern yet compassionate you were with your staff. And how much respect you had for them as they did you. That single visit was indeed a memorable one. 

Of precious memory are the times I came back to Nigeria then, with my family and visited Mama Imesi, of blessed memory while she was with you. Your face always lit up on seeing my children and husband. 

God bless your precious soul ‘Big Mummy’. You lived an impactful life.

My earliest memory of granma was in my early 20's, when I visited with her granddaughter Shetu Ndanusa, I remember grandma was so welcoming so sweet, her smile so warm. It was delightful ,pure joy watching three generations of women (grandma,mommy Bandele Makanjuola Ndanusa and Shetu Ndanusa Ahmad) as they chatted n laughed in excitement over Shetu's upcoming wedding .

Over twenty years later, I visited you for the last time, and a memorable visit it was.
Thank you grandma for your prayers and blessings, I will never forget you.
You are a beautiful spirit, you impacted my life greatly in just one meeting. Your life was exemplary and admirable.
You are greatly missed and even more, greatly loved.

My memory of Mama Yombo, as she was popularly known, was as a kind-hearted and cheerful woman. She was a self-sacrificing person who cared for people's welfare. She was conscientious and took interest in people and would go the extra mile to assist all who came in contact with her. She was particularly loyal to very busy husband and assisted him to look after the children. Her happy and amiable disposition towards people might have contributed to her long life in a harsh environment like Nigeria. She will be remembered by all of us whose lives she had touched. As we cherish the sweet memory of her exemplary lifestyle, it is my prayer that all of us will be comforted and become wiser in the way we live and relate with people around us in Jesus name. Amen!

Through your life ‘Grandmummy’, you have inspired us all to put others before self and none before God.

We went to visit our Great Grandma most Sundays with our Mum. Eventually, we would mostly visit her, our Great Aunt Kunbi and our cousins on the way to the airport before traveling to school.

We loved Grandma very much because she was very caring, kind and supportive. When we spoke to her she would ask us about school and our parents and really listen when we talked to her. Whenever she spoke to us, she would add a “dear” to the end of her words to make us feel welcome in her house. Her smile was warm and infectious; and she always lead with love.

She showed us how to be caring to the less fortunate, how to be kind to everyone and always support family.

She was and still is a beacon that brings all of us together through her kindness and positivity and she will be sorely missed. We would all do well to emulate Great’s bravery and compassion.

To you Great, we would like to say our final goodbye, knowing you will forever be in our hearts.

Mama we love you and miss you but the memory of your exemplary life is fresh in our minds.

My first encounter with Mama was about five years ago, despite that she was advanced in age you could feel the warmth and peace around her. Her elegance but simple life was evident. She was full of life and could feel anyone's presence even by their footsteps.

I was introduced to her as Yomi's brother and the atmosphere beamed with love and care. I have never seen someone who truly cares for people as Mama. She was hospitable and homely.

The time spent with Mama was full of joyous moments. Though she was stricken by age but her memory and sense of humour were astonishing.

There subsequent other visits and you could feel the tranquillity around her and the blissful touch of spirituality.

We will surely miss her. Rest on in the bossom of our Lord till we meet to part no more.

Shuttling through the Cinema, as our"shortcut" to the house! It's a Nostalgic feeling! Mama was always ready to tell me when it was home time! Guess when teenagers start to goggles...! I lived with Mammy and her family when I moved to Lagos mid sixties. She was very receptive and caring. She and her husband, Dr.Makanjuola (of blessed memory) conducted an early morning naming ceremony of one of our children.

I celebrate the life of my mother, Florence Bamidele Makanjuola, acknowledging both our joy in the gift that her life was to us, and the pain that her passing brings, but comforted by the joy and assurance that she is sleeping in the bosom of her maker.

She was a remarkable woman, she had 5 biological children, 15 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

The family and her role as mother, grandmother, and great grandmother was the most important thing to my Mum. This is where she drew her strength and left her legacy. Mummy really
enjoyed her family most of all. She was there for all of us through the good and the not so good times strengthening us with the Words which never departed from her mouth and by which she
spent her life.

Maami was the kindest, most loving person I've ever known. She mothered everyone, so much
so that friends would often call her mummy. She took this as a compliment and never shied
away from being there for others who needed support in one way or another. As her daughter, I am blessed to have grown up with the most incredible role model, a beautiful soul who taught me to always be myself and to always push myself to learn more to achieve my God given potentials. I will miss her smile, her laugh, her sage advice, and her bubbly personality.

I know I am not alone when I say that she will be in my heart forever, but there is a hole in my heart that will always be there. I am not sure how I will cope with losing my best friend, confidant, mentor, and mother. I do know that I have been my mother's little sidekick all of my
life, and I hope and pray by His grace that I follow in her footsteps and become a strong woman who can face traumatic loss, just like she would want to. No-one is ever as interested in everything you do as your mother, or as proud of you.

Mother was strong, selfless,positive, prayerful and her presence lit up any room she entered. She loved
to let people around her know how much she loved them. My mum's joy and true happiness for life was truly remarkable.

Ever since I was a young child, my mother taught me to live every single day to the fullest and not take any thing/one of value for granted and always see the beauty in everyone. Her passing can be an inspiration for each of us to take advantage of the small beautiful things life has to offer every day.

Special thanks loving hugs from mummy to you my Makembi Prof Kunbi Banjo who had practically put her life on hold to stand in for all of us with strength and unconditional love as our mum had done all her life.

She loved all of us and her memory will continue to live on in us all.

Got to know Mama when she used to pay occasional visit to my late Mum, Mrs. Olayinka Ojuroye after my Mum would have visited her severally.
What really caught my attention was her finesse, the ajebutter look. I was compelled to ask my mum about her and she said a lot of beautiful things about her, her achievements and all.
A beautiful soul that won't be forgotten in a hurry.
On behalf of the Ojuroyes. I commiserate with the entire family on the transition to Glory of Mama. May the Lord uphold you all.

I really appreciate the Almighty God for a life well spent by mama Makanjuola.
I met her through Prof.Banjo and her grandchildren.
We moved in to Oremeji street, as newly wedded couple, and as a school teacher I got into the family through home lesson.
But along the line mama took interest in my personal life.
She picked motherly, spiritual, and financial interest in my life and family.
During my reproductive trials she supported both physically, medically and financially, invited me most time to her bedroom, shared life experiences of her own ups and down, and how God helped her out, she thought me the ways of the Lord and winning battles of life on your knees, with patient, humility and giving to God's work, minister of God and the poor..
I will really miss her smiles, life experiences, gist, and giving spirit.
May her sour rest in perfect peace

  Tribute to Chief Mrs. F.B. Makanjuola, on behalf of the Descendants of Oba Richard Oladipo Makanjuola, (ROMAKDU), the late Owa Oye of Imesi Ile, in Osun State Nigeria.
We fondly called her Mummy Eko, during our childhood days because she lived in Lagos while we lived in Ibadan.
She was married to our late father's elder brother, late Dr. O. O. Makanjuola, the then Chief Consultant, TB Service, Lagos.
As children, we were always looking forward to our annual Christmas attire, from Lagos, which for so many years never for once failed, up until we started entering Higher Institutions.
A very accommodating and caring woman, her home was opened to all members of the extended family, who needed to be in Lagos for whatever period and whatever reasons.
We always looked forwards to spending holidays in Lagos.
I remember our eldest brother, late Prince Abimbola Makanjuola aka Kabila, started living at the Idi Oro house at a very tender age, under the parental guidance of Mummy Eko, so much so, that it took the rest of us a long time before we got to realise that he was our blood brother.
I also had a taste of Mummy Eko's hospitality, for two full years, for my Advanced level studies.
Sleep on ma, you will forever live in our hearts.
May God grant your soul eternal rest.

Just as we were looking forward to her 100th birthday, it was time for her to go to her creator. God knows best!
Grandmummy was a mother to all of us who were her daughter's colleagues. She not only cared for us, but also our children. She supervised our children's school run, made sure they were safe and protected. She was always there for everyone, with her welcoming smile every time. We shall miss her sorely. From the Abdulkareems, we are forever grateful. God will grant the entire family and friends the fortitude to bear the loss .

I met you for the very first time in 2017. Despite your advanced years you were very warm and welcoming. You had heard of me, as one of the sisters of your late son in law, the late Dr Taiwo Banjo, who had unfortunately passed on 20+ years ago.You said Ibeji, aburo Taiye??!! nice to meet you. Your kind gesture and sharp memory at over 90 warmed the cockles of my heart. My children met you too and were glad they did. May you rest in peace in the blossom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. No doubt you will be sorely missed !
