Happy 80th birthday Mum!

Your blessed memory lives on. Never to be forgotten.
What a celebration we would have had if you were still here with us.
Nonetheless we will celebrate you. We will continue to cherish your memory everyday.
So much has happened since you passed. You were indeed a guardian angel!
Its shocking how much things can change within a couple of years.
How I wish I could hear your strong and assuring voice again.
I am however confident that God Almighty is with us and will not let us down.
I am certain that the future is bright.

Today I celebrate you mum, your memory, your life and all that you stood for.
You were indeed a strong woman to the core even till your very last breath.
I can vividly imagine how you would have celebrated your 80th birthday.
You might even not have had a party but you would have been the liveliest and youngest looking 80 year old around!
Your legacy lives on Mum.
We will continue to strive to make you proud.
We will always miss you!

I hope heaven does a big party for you

"Dance... I hope you dance.
I hope you dance... I hope you dance.
I hope you dance... I hope you dance.
(Time is a wheel in constant motion always rolling us along,
Tell me who wants to look back on their years
And wonder where those years have gone.)"

Its been a year since you left us mum and I definitely know you are resting in the bosom of the Lord. So many things have happened within the space of 1 year. I just give thanks to God for everything. I know He sees and knows all things, even those that are yet to happen. He knows and owns the times of our lives. We will always remember you mum. Till we meet again x

Hope the angels are singing you a melodious birthday song mum. Hope you love all the beauty around you. Far more beautiful than anything we could have done for you here. We love and miss you so much mum. Not that you were very particular about birthday celebrations but you were so full of life mum. You were always there. Its so strange to speak of you in past tense. You were a champion in your own right. We celebrate your life today mum. You are always in our hearts. Forever unforgettable!

Mama Ronke, your passing is another reminder that your generation as parents, uncles and aunties is passing over and the responsibility is now ours to oil the wheels of our so much cherished blood ties for which you labored so hard to ensure that you were not left out in spite of the early passing of our loving uncle. You will be fondly remembered. May God grant you eternal rest and grant us as a family the strength to bear this great pain.

When I decided to write a tribute for Mummy, I had to pause for a while because I found it difficult to put my words together in writing. As this is really heartbreaking. I began to remember our last moment together recently in December while in front of her gate where we had heart to heart discussion. Unknown to me that was going to be the last time I will be seeing her.
Mummy took me as a daughter who was very free to discuss issues with me and confidently pray together with me. A great mother, principled, a disciplinarian, had zero tolerance for nonsense and raised her children to be God-fearing. She was a singer, prayer warrior (carrier of fire), a true daughter of Zion, a role model, a definition of faith and always after the welfare of the less privileged. She was going for the best when it comes to the education of her children. She was a virtuous woman as Proverbs 31 praises. I also remembered when she called to apologise for not attending one of our children's wedding because of her health status by that time and yet she sent envelope and promised that she will be in attendance for others. Alas, death took her before the time, but who can question God? I know she is in a better place, but the memories we share and her legacy will live forever. Ọmo Olokè kò moke, gígùn, Ọmọ Edu 'ule ahún. Ẹfon kú mòrè. Sún ré o. Ọya rẹ̀ kí ọ. Until we meet to part no more.

Dear mummy, I was shocked and still in shock to receive the news of your demise because I still wish to see you in your 80s, 90s and even 100 as you look so young and beautiful in your 70s but God knows best. God be with the children and the whole family you left behind. Sun re titi di ojo aginde mama. Much love ma.

Adeola Abe.
