Frances Barker Dickerson died peacefully on May 26, 2016.

A graveside service conducted by the Rev. Kay Johnson will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Elmwood Cemetery of Oxford.

Frances was born on September 30, 1924 in Oxford, North Carolina. She was the youngest of seven children of Mattie Critcher Barker and Norman Vanderbilt Barker. Frances was a faithful member of Bethel United Methodist Church. She took great joy attending Bible Studies and sharing her musical gifts with her church family. Frances cherished her family and her friends and loved gathering to sing with them around the piano. She was a long time employee of Union National Bank (BB&T).

She was predeceased by her husband, George “Shorty” Vinson Dickerson in 2001.

Frances was also preceded in death by her two brothers Taylor A. Barker and William L. Barker and four sisters Essie B. Riggan, Pearl B. Frazier, Ruby B. Pruitt and Sadie B. Whitfield, and a nephew Howard Riggan.

She is survived by her loving nieces and nephews.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to Bethel United Methodist Church at 107 Pine Tree Drive, Oxford, North Carolina 27565 .

Miss Frances was a sweet, forever smiling and helpful lady for the many years I dealt with her at Union Bank, and always seemed to be a very happy member of the large Dickerson family. The world will miss her!!!
