Frances S. Bowden, 94, died peacefully at her home Sunday, December 19, 2010.

 

 She was born October 1, 1916 to the late Bette and Norman Strickland. Frances retired from John Umstead Hospital after 30 years of service. She loved to sew, make crafts and her wonderful yeast rolls, all of which she shared with her community and church family.

 

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Butner by Rev. Lenny Rogers.

 

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Kenneth Strickland , a son A. Deuard Bowden, both of Creedmoor, a daughter-in-law, Fay W. Bowden of Butner, four grandsons, Ken, Ronnie, Barry and Garry, one granddaughter, Michelle, six great grandchildren, a brother and sister-in-law, David and Mary Strickland, a sister, Lessie Marshall, two step-sons and daughter-in-laws, Terrell and Colleen Duncan, Pello and Marie Duncan, a step-daughter, Josephine Coats and their families and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Curtis (AC) Bowden, two brothers, W.E. and Lindsay Strickland, a sister Maebelle Strickland, a grandson, Ron Strickland and a daughter-in-law, Judy Bowden.

 

 

Flowers accepted or memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Butner, Post Office Box 44, Butner, NC 27509

 

Visitation will be held from 11:00 – 12:30 PM, Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at the First Butner First Baptist Church and other times at the home.
